I think he is a great player - but really where would he fit in our system. I would rather have any two of Gerrard, Momo or Alonso in the middle. We need pace in all areas in attack to get the best out of having two deep CM's imo. So despite always wanting us to make it happen whenever it has been rumoured before I now think we should steer clear.

Plus 40 or 50 grand a week would seem cheap if he were performing. I think the question would be how much he has left in the tank at the top level.
He also has a point to prove with Man U and would love to get one over on Ferguson. I still think he's got something to offer on the pitch but he'd also raise our profile overseas massively.

You're not telling me you'd pick Pennant on the right, over Beckham?

Possibly, but not because I think he is a better player - just more suited to the way we are trying to play. If we are going to invest in a player I just think there are better options than Beckham - he wouldn't be happy on the bench whereas I think Pennant would to a greater extent and would probably be a better impact sub.

Beckham for free, is a great option IMO.

Anything we spent on wages, would be doubled through merchandising.

Seriously would any Liverpool fan actually want a Liverpool shirt with Beckham's name on it?

I'd rather eat my own ****.

would imagine it be young asian chicks that would be mostly sporting the football tops with his name.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                    * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

I think he would try and keep as much of a %age of the rights as he can. If he came to us it would be his last big contract, can't see him undervaluing himself.

We might not, but the masses in the far east would.

Last big contract, but he's hardly gonna starve either way.

Well that's not a reason to sign him in my opinion. He's a manc ****, always has been and always will be. Why should we part with our hard earned cash so that manc **** can order a new golden vibrator for his minging wife?
