I think he is a great player - but really where would he fit in our system. I would rather have any two of Gerrard, Momo or Alonso in the middle. We need pace in all areas in attack to get the best out of having two deep CM's imo. So despite always wanting us to make it happen whenever it has been rumoured before I now think we should steer clear.

He also has a point to prove with Man U and would love to get one over on Ferguson. I still think he's got something to offer on the pitch but he'd also raise our profile overseas massively.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostIt's one where I am torn. If he joined on a pay as you play contract, then I would say yes. The media circus that comes with him irks me, but if he did the business on the pitch on a regular basis, and chipped in with some goals from our right wing, then I would have no complaints. Plus 40 or 50 grand a week would seem cheap if he were performing. I think the question would be how much he has left in the tank at the top level. There is a light that never goes out. You're not telling me you'd pick Pennant on the right, over Beckham?Originally posted by dww View PostI think he is a great player - but really where would he fit in our system. Possibly, but not because I think he is a better player - just more suited to the way we are trying to play. If we are going to invest in a player I just think there are better options than Beckham - he wouldn't be happy on the bench whereas I think Pennant would to a greater extent and would probably be a better impact sub."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Anything we spent on wages, would be doubled through merchandising.

would imagine it be young asian chicks that would be mostly sporting the football tops with his name.Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostSeriously would any Liverpool fan actually want a Liverpool shirt with Beckham's name on it?
I'd rather eat my own ****.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

I think he would try and keep as much of a %age of the rights as he can. If he came to us it would be his last big contract, can't see him undervaluing himself.Originally posted by DJS View PostBeckham for free, is a great option IMO.

Well that's not a reason to sign him in my opinion. He's a manc ****, always has been and always will be. Why should we part with our hard earned cash so that manc **** can order a new golden vibrator for his minging wife?Originally posted by DJS View PostWe might not, but the masses in the far east would.Originally posted by Gordon Brown
