When has that ever stopped a player from demanding more?Originally posted by DJS View PostLast big contract, but he's hardly gonna starve either way.
The only way he would take any sort of pay cut would be to go back to United imo. I think that his stock commercially is on the wane and that we would not get the enormous boost in merchandising, unless he really starred in our team. I don't think he would necissarily do that. I accept that other people will feel differently and I think the arguments are perfectly valid, but I think signing him now would be a retrograde step."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

For business purposes yes...... Footballing NoOriginally posted by bazza76 View Postid take him, as has benn mentioned, doubt he would command 100k a week, and we would probably get that back in merchanidsing anyway. Still great passer, set piece taker and crosser of the ball.

Right, so you wouldnt sign Rooney or Ronaldo then, if we could?Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostWell that's not a reason to sign him in my opinion. He's a manc ****, always has been and always will be. Why should we part with our hard earned cash so that manc **** can order a new golden vibrator for his minging wife?
The priority is what's best for the team, from a football point of view, not whether you like the player or his wife.

Bad examples. Beckham has always been a Man Utd fan. Rooney and Ronaldo have not.Originally posted by DJS View PostRight, so you wouldnt sign Rooney or Ronaldo then, if we could?

If you had used Gary Neville as your example then my answer would be I would still be against signing him. I don't believe they'd give their all for the club, when the chips are really down.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

Must be true then. Does it mention us in relation to Beckham then?Originally posted by DJS View PostOh do one mate, it's been on SSN talking about his next move, considering he's now free to speak to clubs about a Bosman move in the summer.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

It doesnt bother me who the player supported as a kid, if they have the ability and a positive enough impact on the team, then i'd have them.Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostBad examples. Beckham has always been a Man Utd fan. Rooney and Ronaldo have not.

I think Beckham would. You dont, which is fair enough.
But "he's a manc" is a daft reason IMO.

Not saying it's true that we're in for him, but he looks like he'll be on the move and the option of going for him is there for anyone.Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostMust be true then. Does it mention us in relation to Beckham then?
Not a 'story' i've pulled out of the air, as you seemed to suggest.
Why dont you just not open my threads? Save us both the bother.

He supported them as an adult aswell, not just as a wide-eyed kid. IF he moved to us it would be purely a financial move for him. He's not interested in winning things for Liverpool, he's won all the domestic honours already. I want players who are hungry for success, not just money.Originally posted by DJS View PostIt doesnt bother me who the player supported as a kid, if they have the ability and a positive enough impact on the team, then i'd have them.

And you think Shanks would've made a welcome banner for Bellamy or Pennant?
