I remeber AF talking Javier up big on KT many moons ago whcih prompted me to take a greater interest in him especially at the WC. He is a class player and the WHU performances shouldnn't be taken as a reflection of his ability. He is much better than that. Would be a class signing if we pull this off.

The point I'm trying to make is that very few South American midfielders and strikers have done well in EPL.

I think he'll be a useful loan signing for us, but not as many have suggested here, a replacement for Momo or Xabi

We need a strong squad to challenge for the title. We never replaced Didi and that cost us dearly at the start of the season when Alonso & Gerrard were out of form and we had to rely on Momo and Zenden. Having Mascherano would give Rafa world class options in the middle of the park!!

I know that but Zenden was brought in on a free as a LM and was surely only used as a CM as a temporary measure until we replaced Didi

Bolo played his best year for Boro in the middle. He was an attacking midfielder there though. Rafa definitely intended Bolo to be cover for the CM slot.

BTW I wanna make sure no-one is thinking that I think Bolo's @ JM's level.

man i hope we get him, bolo just cant get another game in the center...

i have watched him on every occasion i get, watched most of the argentina games in the last 2 years, and he's quality pure and simple, love to see him next to gago in the argie midfield, gago is the next big thing to hit the midfield, more of a gerrard type though, i recon he will pay up the 14 mill real paid for him in no time...
