i can't be arsed to read anymore of your posts...either your doing it for a joke or else you are one hell of a cock....rsvp?Originally posted by Marky18 View PostBut he's the Captain, the PFA Player of the Year etc etc, he should be performing ALOT better in those games, influencing things, getting the lads going, just being a fcuking Captain generally.
Yes he's not the only one but surely we expect better performances from Stevie in these types of games?
What's the big deal?
p.s 3rd option....you are watching the game through manu tinted goggles

i still hold the view that Gerrard is badly deployed by Benitez. He and Alonso were so deep it was silly. All this tactical discipline we hear of being apparently essential is nullifying him. I'd rather we just have the marauding Steven Gerrard that blew teams away, than this tame "tactically disciplined" version.

SG marking on second goal was well limp - as was EVERYBODY else.
Xabi was a problem - passing.
Carra made a BIG mistake on 3rd.
Pennant loses ball way to quick.
As does LG.
Aurelio needs more time.
Crouch is penalised ALL THE TIME for nowt - feel sorry for him.
Dudek should do that dancing **** (Istanbul) ALL THE TIME - would have more effect.
Kuyt - for time served? Cannot fault him tbh.
Bad day at the office thats all - and timing was ****.
Tomorrow is another day.

Mate, I have to say I think you are on to something here, you certainly don't deserve the kind of replies you have mostly gotten in this thread.Originally posted by Marky18 View Postgo missing in big games.
Come on people lets not deny it, he does disappear in SOME big games, it was there for all to see the dsy, at least Xabi put the boot in and looked like he really wanted it, Gerrard was outfought and outplayed by Gilberto(class act btw) and a French youngster, leaves alot to be desired.
Not the first time and something tells me not the last
Simply not good enough for a Captain of Liverpool in my opinion.
SG has been great and inspirational in many a game, and particularly in the finals like Al states above.
But when you list games against top PL teams like Arse, Chavs and Manure he has not been up to his usual high standards the latest years. Earlier in his career it seems to me, by my spotty memory, that he was a notch better against the top teams than what he has been lately, all imo of course.
From time to time I think SG has been the victim of his own success, both as we, the fans, expect him to be as fantastic as he can be often, but also as he himself seems to believe his own hype a bit too much occationally. You can't really blame him for that, since he is a fantastic midfielder, but now and again it seems the hype has gotten the better of him and this has affected his performances. Enough of the psych major...
Not sure why SG wasnt able to be more of an authority last night, but lets hope he continues to improve his football as he has been doing the last month or so.--== Because the gang and the government is no different ==--

He did score some blinders against the big teams earlier in his career, but do you not think teams know his game now? Wenger controlled SG with a very underrated quality player last night thats all in Gilberto. He plugged the middle and stopped Stevie bursting through, apart from that SG did not have a bad game at allOriginally posted by tomasjj View PostMate, I have to say I think you are on to something here, you certainly don't deserve the kind of replies you have mostly gotten in this thread.

It's simple, he's not a robot and can't be expected to play fabulously in every game. It's up to other players around him to take responsibility when he's off color, as Xabi did yesterday.Originally posted by tomasjj View PostMate, I have to say I think you are on to something here, you certainly don't deserve the kind of replies you have mostly gotten in this thread.

Even though, don't think that Stevie played poorly yesterday, it's just that some of you are too fickle to realize that he isn't a machine.

The point being however, is that it's not been just one or two isolated games. When trends emerge, it's completely valid to start asking questions...Originally posted by fredo View PostIt's simple, he's not a robot and can't be expected to play fabulously in every game. Some of the replies in this thread have been embarassing to say the least.

Stevie G didn't play badly yesterday but fans expect him that he scores a fantastic goal all of the time.Originally posted by keniget View PostThe point being however, is that it's not been just one or two isolated games. When trends emerge, it's completely valid to start asking questions...

Terry Henry was anonymous for 89 mins yesterday and only profited from Carra's slip.
