Howard mate, it's just a game at the end of the day. Do you have good days everyday at work ? Would you like over reaction from your boss each time you have a bad one ?

It's been the case for quite a while now................we don't have enough quality players at Liverpool.

Forget the second eleven but many of our first eleven are good enough for the top 4 or 5 but that's about it IMO. What we need to stop doing is overrating players like Riise and get some real quality in or else we will continue like this regardless of who the manager is.

Agreed, it seems we've had the spine of a great side for a few years now & failed to build on that with more top quality players. IMO we need to be bolder in the transfer market hopefully the DIC investment will help.

It's also based on confidence as I think that we have quality, but maybe not in forward areas. Take Paletta for example, as a defender I do think that he has talent, but he needs more playing time and more time to settle into this league.

Surely you can't justify 6-3 loss even if it's in a worthless competition! Hell if it was a pre season friendly the alarm bells would still be ringing!!

Being honest I think Benitez made the right decision playing the team that he did last night with exception to Dudek who has looked **** in both games and was at fault for nearly all the goals he conceded in both games.

In his first season he got criticised for taking this competion more seriously than the FA Cup, so this season like last year he decided to field non starting 11 players, we get knocked out he gets criticised and he would have got criticised regardless of the score last night.

So why do I agree with his team selection last night? Becuase in all honesty we need to concentrate on getting as far as possible in the Champions League and making sure that we are in the top four at the end of the season. At the end of the day this brings in the money and not the Carling Cup.

Look at it this way, last night we lost Garcia and Gonzalez to serious looking injuries, if we had played our first choice 11 that could quite easily have been Finnan or Risse or Kuyt and then the reaction from some of the so called fans would have been "Why did he risk these players in a mickey mouse cup".

And yes it does matter that we lost and yes it may have been our last chance of winning some silverware this season but look at how Utd were ridiculed for their commitment to this competion last year.

Personally I would rather have the strongest team possible available for both the Premiership and Champions League than to risk these players in cup competions like this one. Yes it is nice to get to finals, but which is the lesser of two evils risking your first choice starting 11 or having them available for the more important games.

Every league and CL game is more important than a quarter final in the CC.

The game on Saturday against Watford is more important and Rafa needed to rest some of the players that had played in all the games the last two weeks.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Doesn't anyone think the resting of players or keeping them out to avoid injury seem to set that menatality on the game i.e. don't get injured.
2 bad injuries last night when was the last time?

Only the Rafa and co know who's tired.

Can see the logic behind Finnan and Riise, but then if Carra and Alonso need the rest why on the bench? They played when we're loosing.
We shouldn't be resting the whole back 4 IMO
1 - the players would benifit more from playing alongside Carra, Finnan, Riise or Agger, as if we ever need them they'll have the experience of how they play in a competitive match.
2 - they got torn apart so last night has to of done more damage than good to them.

WE looked liked like a pub footy team last night.

After going out on Sat we've got a spell of playing one game a week for a while.
Its times like these we learn to live again FF

Sure they were shown up by the Arsenal youngsters, but it was bound to happen.
I had a feeling we would get smashed, and it turned out to be that way. Do i care? sort of...its not pretty to look at. But does it matter? no!

Why? because we have bigger things to worry about. namely Barca and catching Chelsea.

                        3. I think the third statement indicates where you said it doesn't matter. There were 40 odd thousand there last night and it mattered to them - and the manager - and the club - and the players..... But not to you obviously.

cleverer than you thats for sure! Did you think we would play our full team? i certainly didnt, and i know Arsenals kids are better than ours (i'm man enough to admit that) so putting 2 and 2 together we were in for a tough game.....i didnt expect us to lose 6-3 though.

your just picking out random pieces of text and spinning them into your arguement now. That "it doesnt matter" is that we are out of the CC, im not losing any sleep over it anyway.

LFC isnt my life, like it obviously is to some of you. I love watching us play, and going to Anfield is a major highlight in my life to date......but if we lose it doesnt effect me mentally as it does to some of you.
