I see your point somewhat but surely we should at least be competing for it?
Lack of finance has some validity but the fact is that Rafa has spent a fortune and surely that money would have been better spent on a lesser amount of players but of a higher quality that we so desperately lack?

This isnt a call for Rafa to be sacked as i wholeheartedly believe hes the man for the job but that doesnt make him beyond reproach either. He concerns me greatly with his transfer dealings and regardless of how much DIC may give him i dont believe that he will go for the top end of the market.

That said, the Arsenal debacle is largely down to the players, although its always the manager who has to take the brunt in these situations.

Personally, i want this season to be over ASAP, its been a shocker IMO.

3 ganes against Arsenal 12 goals conceded, sobering stuff.

My thoughts for what they are worth

We still need to bring in more quality players as we still have first team players, let alone squad players, who are not skilful enough to play Rafa's game (ability to control the ball and pass, ideally with both feet) - not sure we need many really pacy players as Rafa's game seems to be more about moving the ball quickly. (Rafa has improved us, e.g. for all his faults, Pennant is quick enough and controls the ball very well).

The only explanation I can think of for our team selection on Tues was that we are prioritising getting a CL place and possibly doing well in the CL. Maybe they're more important to our investment position? They certainly bring in the big prize money. Pity about the dent to morale in the short-term.
