I just think with his talent he was the right player for us, but came at the wrong time.

I think a lot of legends can have their status decided for them by the respect/love that their fans have for them as well as, or instead of, what they won whilst at their club. Robbie's name will be remembered and associated with LFC long after his playing days have passed him by.

Whether he is a legitimate club legend can be debated either way, but for me, I will always hold Fowler in the highest regard. He was one of those players that fitted just right with the club he was born to play for. A local boy come good, a guy who if he was not out on that hallowed turf, you could imagine him on the terraces screaming the team on.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

As I said, I can understand why he left but I can't forgive him the way he left but I would take a fit Owen back anytime because a fit Owen could help us winning #19 and also because he would then have been playing for us under Rafa's terms.
He never played under Rafa, so how can "boring football" be a factor? Owen was Beckham mark II, brand Owen for England rather than what LFC wanted.

He played under Houllier and we played boring football under Houllier.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

oh yeah, fully agree with you, Fowler will be long remembered and deservedly so. He has Liverpool in his heart and soul and will always be one of my fave LFC players of all times.

I don't have any poster of him on the wall, just a signed Liverpool shirt.

I also have a signed Liverpool shirt by Gerrard and one by Carra on the wall.

                  Spot on.

I think if you did a poll of everyone on this site 95% would consider Fowler a 'legend'.

Maybe 40% would consider Owen a 'legend'.

Rafa, but he just played a few non competetive games under him.

Unreal defence of your "we are playing boring football, so I'm leaving" post.

Bollocks. It was vanity, arrogance and greed which motivated him into leaving. All the while he was writing in the papers that the thought of Gerrard leaving worried him and that he should stay and give the new manager a chance, he was negotiating a move away. And the little weasel paid for it with his career.

                        What a waste of talent.

Not saying he didn't care about the club, he sure as hell did but lets be honest it wasn't really that funny the incident with Le Saux when if i remember correctly he got a hefty fine and a suspension and in doing so dinted the club's reputation, i love him(as a player of course) as much as any Liverpool fan but it doesn't mean i should stick up for him when he's in the wrong.

Yes, Owen is so greedy that he would have accepted a pay cut to £60k/week to join us from Newcastle

That's what I call a greedy player, or maybe not.

Sometimes a player puts his personal goals first and that's what Owen did.

He wanted to be the best player in the World and he thought that he couldn't become that with us. Rafa didn't exactly had a lot of money to spend. He had to sell Owen so he could sign Alonso for example.

Did you really believe that we would win the CL the first season under Rafa? I didn't. Owen left us to win things both for his club and for himself.

Many players joins us because of the same reason.

Owen could have given Rafa a chance but he didn't. Rafa still wanted to re-sign him a year later and that is proof enough for me that he left on good terms. Rafa would never sign a player that left on bad terms, never.

It was Rafa's choice to sell him and he did the right thing IMO. He could have kept him but Owen wanted to leave and Rafa needed the money to sign Alonso.

As I have said. I don't support the way he left but I can understand why he did it.

This is all I will say about it.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

Do that, please. I'm tired discussing him.
