If you think about it I would say that it is very possible, he has been injured nearly all the time Rafa has been here. His contract is up in the summer (I think) can't sell him in January as he's injured and basically they just want rid of him, they have bought Leto to fight it out next season with speedy.

But would we really need him so far including Leto we will have Aurelio, Riise, Warnock, Zenden, Kewell, Gonzalez, Leto all capable of playing left midfield. I would be shocked if Warnock was with us next season and I think Zendens injuries will mean he goes too. However Leto needs time to settle and Gonzalez remains only a prospect at this stage. So I really think we need a player of proven PL class on the left. Just a guess that he was a free and was one of the best left backs in spain at the time. I just have a feeling he will show glimpses of how good he is then he'll get injured and start again. Kewell contract runs at the end of next season and I really can't see Rafa not trying to resign him on reduced wages. Look at how often Kewell has been picked for big games, even if he is just coming back to fitness. He's a Rafa player and I think his absence is one of the reasons we have struggled this year and one of the reasons why we got hot last year when he came back. He just opens up so much space for other players like gerrard and Garcia and has such good ball retention.

Gonzalez hasn't yet proved he is capable in English Football and there is nothing to suggest Leto is as well. I think we've missed Harry this season too, he gave us a good balance last season and put in some good performances and scored a couple vital winning goals for us v Tottenham and Man City.
So to get rid of him on the hope that Gonzalez and Leto come good would be very risky.Comment

Harry Kewell is an outstanding player, he was pretty damn good last seaosn in the main, he shoud have scored more goals but still i don't think he got enough credit for what he did last season.
