Just had a piece on the local news about the DIC deal.

Tony Livsey, the guy who filed the report, said a meeting between the two boards was cancelled today, but the deal will almost certainly be signed & sealed by "early next week".

Anyone else see the report? Quite hard not to get a bit giddy.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

            That's a 65 million quid profit.

Given that Moores is a fan, how likely is it that he would say

            a) I've got my 10 million back
            b) I've had the privilege of being Chairman of Liverpool Football Club for all this time for free
            c) I could give this extra 65 million quid to Rafael Benitez for transfers in one lump sum

What other costs have been incurred directly out of David Moores' pocket since being Chairman, and how much has it cost him?

It seems on the face of it that Moores could give the transfer kitty a huge leaving present as a result of this DIC deal. If he wants to that is.

Am I right on this? If so, how likely is it?

I think that if you get involved in a football club for love as he did, then get to be Chairman for many years, and to be able to do it for free is a huge honour.

A 65 million pound profit for this honour seems a bit steep. But given that his involvement is clearly for love not profit, why not just get his money back so he's not out of pocket and plough that profit back into the team to put us immediately back challenging again financially.

Can anyone else drool at what we could do with a 65million pound transfer kitty this summer?
...about as likely to happen as me getting it on with Shakira......

I think he was right about the Sheikh and his attitude to winning. I don't think he has a clue when the Board are meeting however.

Don't think he'll give any of it back to the club. He has invested millions in the club so I think he's entitled to re-coup the profit on the the initial 10£ m.
DIC should be the ones giving Rafa a wee present.
Indeed they should. And I'm not saying Moores is obliged to give any profits. I just wondered if the 75 minus 10 that the beeb mentioned was a fair equation. Plus, given that he's clearly involved in the reds for love not money, I just wondered if he may set up some sort of trust fund from any profits he had.

I think people have misinterpreted this idle curiosity as some sort of demand though.

This is not gonna happen though.

He is not gonna give his money to DIC.
He could put it in a separate trust fund though. Didn't Jack Walker do this or something similar. He prob won't, I was just shooting the breeze really.

Putting my business head on, the Trustee Investment Act 2000 is quite strict in what it allows as investments from a Trust so probably all Moores could do would be to lend the money to LFC although there needn't be any fixed redemption period just a standard clause to say the loan is "payable on demand".

This is what I believe Jack Walker did for Blackburn Rovers and explains why they can still fund transfers even with gate receipts lower than many Championship sides. No doubt Abramovich's 'investment' into Chelsea is also a loan repayable on demand because then it would act as a liability on his estate when he dies thus reducing his family's Inheritance Tax liability by 40% of the amount of the loan/investment.

                    Interesting post, ta.
