And those contracts without Fifa laws wouldn't be worth the paper they are written on.

Its a bloody job contract, they signed it and have to adhere to it....unless they want to get sued for damages....just like anybody else. Theres nothing magic about a footballers job contract.

If/when this signing is confirmed I'll be absolutely delighted!

Rafa could have pulled off a cracking deal here in my opinion, and although the deal will probably see Gerrard move out wide again in some games it will give us more possibilities than ever in midfield, especially with players returning from injury soon.

Mascherano is a quality player, and like someone's already said, he and Alonso can become something really special in the centre of midfield in future seasons, without having to mention the likes of Gerrard and Sissoko who will also play a huge part there too. At Valencia Rafa had Baraja and Albelda running things from the centre of midfield and these two can do the same for us, allowing the likes of Gerrard to move forward more as an attacking player.

We'll now have huge possibilities with Mascherano also available to us, but I don't expect to see him play for us for a few weeks yet until he proves full fitness - but there won't be any rush to play him due to the other options we have there.
