      That is a shocking statistic.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

In the Last 20 competitions only 3 teams outside of the mentioned 4 have won the FA Cup

        Wimbledon in 88
        Spurs in 91
        Everton in 95

And only in the 91 Final didn't at least one of the 4 play in the Final.

Just proves again who the Top 4 is

I've just watched us lose 3-2 to Southampton in 1983 or something

dont think any proof is needed. the to 4 are pulling away even further as well. Hence why we need to imrove our record against them.

I think the current team is getting there. I remember a period in the early 80s when we went something like 2 /12 years without losing a game of any kind at Anfield. Our current record is very very good at home, embarassing defeats to Arsenal notwithstanding. However, the team isn't there yet. I agree with those who say the 78/79 and 87/88 teams are pretty much the best. Until the current team inspires aboslute fear in ALL opposition, the way twe did in the old days, statistics are meaningless and the current team isn't up there with our past greats.

IMO the 87/88 was the 2nd Best Liverpool Team ever, but played the Best Football Ever

Number 1 for me is the 78/79 Team.

                Full Record

                P:42 W:30 D:8 L:4 GF:85 GA:16 GD:69 Pts:68

But they lost against Utd in FA Cup SF, Against Sheff Utd in League Cup - 2nd Round, Against Forest in Euro Cup - 1st round and Anderlecht in Euro Super Cup

The top 4 are pulling away largely because they qualify for the CL year in year out. If Platini reduces it to three from each country the team missing out will be in deep crap.
                  .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Our Current squad is a couple of Players short of becoming a Great side. Just wait and see

An easier test is look at the players in those title winning teams and tell me how many you would replace with players from todays sides

Not many would be my answer
