He's mobile, stronger and *appears* to score goals.

Also, if you're willing to accept the kind of player the manager wants, he appears to be our best option.

Also, if he fails, we can nickname him "sloth". Which has to be a bonus in anyone's book. *smirk*

I like Crouch and think he is a good albeit limited player. He seems to have justified his price tag and certainly gives us an alternative up front.

The continued pursuit of Kuyt seems to raise a question about Crouch as I understood that Rafa turned his attention to Crouch when he was priced out of a move for Kuyt as he was valued at 12 to 14 million. And now we have returned with an offer and have a good chance of getting out man.

So what does this hold long-term for Crouch?
Would we recoup the money we paid out for him if we were to sell him? Surely his price has risen now that he is an established England squad player.

I think we will continue to need option up front. Crouch is also good off the bench. Rafa showed last season that he is willing to play two forwards who are not pacy, so I wouldn't rule out a Crouch/Kuyt combination being tried.

I like crouch, but to say he has justified his price tag already is wrong. He was Liverpool's No 1 striker last year and HE did not score enough goals to warrant that accolade.

He's a squad player who, when called upon will not let the team down. Personally if Kuyt is signed, I will class Peter as liverpools No 4 striker this year. Bellamy, Kuyt ( if signed ) and Fowler will all warrant a start ahead of Crouch.

idont think his price has risen as i think we paid top dollar!! but then idont think we would struggle to recoup our money.

I also think he shouldnt be sold we would have:

              Fowler Bellamy Crouch Kujt FSP

Scum have Saha solksjaer Rooney Smith Rossi

Arse have Henry Persie adebayor Reyes alediere walcott

We need to keep crouch just in case fowler/bellamy struggle with injuries

True, but Kuyt is faster than Morientes. I think it could work.

Can't we just partner Kuyt with Bellers?

                    Exactly. Simple.

                    Or Kuyt with Fowler.

I think Bellamy and fowler will be a decent combination up front.

If Kuyt does sign, who would be his best partner, Bellamy or Fowler ???

Crouch can be used when Kuyt needs a rest.

We might see them together, but there's really no need.

In total, Meijer made 27 appearances for Liverpool. He didn't manage a league goal but his only two Liverpool goals came in the 5-1 Worthington Cup victory over Hull City at Boothferry Park in 1999.

                                Also what about Nigel Clough

I don't know about worst, but these strikers have pretty shocking records also !
                                Don't forget Heskey;

                                1st team games: 223
                                1st team goals: 60

A similar strike ratio to Crouch but I don't think he offered the same presence overall.

And Baros had a worse strike rate than either Heskey or Crouch.

                                1st team games: 108
                                1st team goals: 27
