    Really?

Because I recall a certain Liverpool manager, who is considered a legend and has a statue in his honour outside our stadium, saying amongst other things about Everton that he would draw the curtains if they were playing in his garden, that Dixie Dean had more people at his funeral than Everton get on a Saturday, and that there are only two great teams in Liverpool: Liverpool and Liverpool Reserves.

bill shankley never talked to anyone after a loss mate.

We didn't lose though did we?

But I take your point on board though mate. I think it was just frustration talking on Rafa's behalf.

We failed to beat an average team home. It happens. It will happen again.

The bigger picture is the same as last season. Too poor a start at the top of the season and not enough quality to nick tight games when it matters.

Sort that out and then everyone can hate us becasue we keep winning the title just like the Mancs and Chavs.

Comments were a bit cheap from Rafa to be honest, it was up to us to break them down and we didn't.
They defended for their lives, got men behind the ball etc but we weren't good enough to break them down so tough ****, no excuses i'm afraid.

I don't like the way we're playing to be honest. That's not the Liverpool way ... Never was.
I agree with you. Maybe we will get Tevez in the summer.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

IMO people are getting a bit carried away with today. It wasnt the best, but you cant be 100% every game, and when you're not at your best, you rely on a bit of magic or a bit of luck. We didnt get either, but it happens.

As for Rafa's comment about small teams, he's bang on - why is it cheap? :whatever:

has anyone read this? I saw it off Newsnow.

Everton have responded to Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez's small club "jibe" made in the aftermath of Saturday's 0-0 draw at Anfield.

Upon hearing the comments, Everton Chief Executive Keith Wyness has released a statement (makes a change from a DVD)

"It is disappointing to hear such an unnecessary comment at the conclusion of what was such a splendid local derby.

"Of course, Mr Benitez is entitled to his opinion but I suspect he is in a minority of one in believing Everton is, in any respect, a small football club

If Everton are not a small football club what are they?

One trophy in 20 years of football equates to them being pretty small in the grand scheme of things. When your cup final is the two league games against you local rival you need to consider yourself small.

Although we must hold our hands up and take some blame for Evertons small-time status. If it wasnt for Heysel they would be massive.
