I'm going off at a tangent with this one, but I really hope Hicks and Gillett (and of course the legendary "Foster"!) will be at the Barca and Man Utd home games in a few weeks time.

That should really give them a taste for the passion, loyalty and volume of Anfield.

I'm joking mate. Do you not have observational skills?

Anyway I stick to what I do best!

I like what I heard in the main from the interview. I wouldn't **** with these guys. Let's hope they play as good a game as they talk.

I've just watched the interview again.

It seems to me that Rafa will state who he wants, and the board will pretty much back him to the hilt.

I dont want to say there will be limitless funds in the summer, because clearly there wont be, but I think we can expect that elusive 'world class winger' and 'twenty goal a season striker'.

We'd be missing an almighty opportunity* if they weren't to attend those games, and I'm sure the people who matter at the club are well aware of that. It's great timing, with two such huge games on the horizon.

              * Obviously the deal is done but, as anyone who's been to home games v United and Barcelona would know, if they're not well and truly smitten yet (and I know they say they are) they bloody well will be after those games. The experience would blow their heads off.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Not at all. I only want what is best for LFC.

These guys might turn out to be the best thing that has happened to the club and I hope they do, however, that doesn't stop me from having reservations (still no pun intended) and that has absolutely nothing to do with them being yanks.

You would expect due dilligence to last a great deal longer than it did - that's why I worry that they are cowboys who have come charging in like bulls in a china shop to get involved in the premiership as its the fashionable thing to do. If this is the case i really worry for the long term stability of the club. In comparison DIC struck me a proper business people - although the slanging match afterwards was a bit uncalled for.

All this 'they were excellent in the pc' rubbish is fine, but I'm not sure what everyone expected to hear. One thing these chaps are not, is simpletons, and they would have known how important this pc was to appease the sceptical fans. They knew the right things to say and they said them.

Anyway, what is done is done. Here's looking to a prosperous and red future!

If Hicks spend 250 million on Alex Rodriguez, then that says to me that he is willing to push the boat out for success and isnt afriad to spend big.

With all this money comes extra pressure for Rafa, if he gets the players he wants then theres no excuses, but i bet Rafa is licking his lips at the taught.

I also have concerns about this. But given their legal advisers were Allen & Overy, who are highly reputable and have the resources to allocate a lot of man-power to work on this around the clock, I just wonder if they did manage to do a thorough enough job in 3 days. I still think it is unlikely, especially with the level of co-ordination required but you don't know.

I have to say though I was extremely impressed by how they came across at the press conference, especially by Gillett's enthusiasm and their willingness to back Rafa.

Having said that, in spite of them saying the club is not loaded with debt (which obviously is a relief) it is obvious that the funding necessary to complete stadium construction is not in place, so it is unclear what this will mean for the club's finances a couple of years down the line.

I think one thing we can safely assume now is that naming rights to the stadium will be sold to the highest bidder, which is probably a necessary evil

                            I disagree

It shows they really wanted the club for other than pure business reasons.

I also see that our debt is now down to 48 million

Liverpool is a soundly run business. Moores might not have had the financial clout to take us to the next level, but He ran the club well and always made sound business decisions. The only thing lacking was that the marketing of the Liverpool Brand has not been what it should be. That will hopefully be sorted out now

Exactly Shaggy, I wouldn't bank on them both being there though.

I mean they've literally JUST bought the club, and they're flying back across the Atlantic (tonight) to support their other "franchises". Fair enough I suppose, but still, I would have liked them to stay in Liverpool for a few days...

I bet Foster will be there! I love him already.
