I was GENUINELY impressed by the press conference. The family angle was nice. They were gracious even to Everton and the Glaziers.

I liked the way the guys enthused about winning, passion, heritage and legacy. Which they mentioned way before money and business.

They even knew about goaltenders and defensemen. Our franchize is gonna go from strength to strength

We love you Liverpool Soccerball Franchize, we do! :P

I like the fact that Moores stays on as Life President.

I didn't feel they were dishonest about anything at this stage. They even said they'd go for stadium naming rights if they felt it was right which was a potentially controversial and potentially unpopular thing to say, but they said it, so maybe they're straight up.

There's also nothing in their history that says they use sports clubs to asset strip.

I'd prefer someone who was as nutty about LFC as I am, but thats because I'd KNOW their intentions were right. With non Reds that much is still in doubt. One can only look at their past records which seem ok so far, and let time do the telling.

I have to say though that I'm not sure that having someone who loves the club in charge is always the best thing. I know for one that if I was in charge I would often let my heart rule my head and in business can be a big problem. In the long run someone hard-headed but with an understanding of the importance of the fans to the club is what we need for success.

1st impressions of Gillett and Hicks

Just watched the interview on .tv and the 1st impressions of these 2 is mixed.

Gillett looks to be a pretty genuine bloke. Came across to very well to me in the interview he did. Looks like he just wants to take a back seat in the footballing matters and let Rick and Rafa run that side of the club.

Hicks on the other hand had me a bit worried. Seems a bit more of a stubborn bloke who may want to have his say to much. Also he called us "the Liverpool Reds" twice!!!!!!!!!!! WTF he needs to be told straight away that he isnt in USA. Other thing that worries me is that Moores done his home work on Gillett for months, getting people to investagate hime etc, yet Hicks only came on the scene a week or so ago and he has been "let in" without having full knowledge of his character.

We will only see how it pans out in the next couple of years.

If Moores feels this is right after many years of people coming in and out the door of Anfield, then i guess will just have to trust them.

I've liked what i've heard so far. I'm sure that Moores has done adequate homework and if he felt that us being called "the liverpool reds" was that big a deal, we'd know about it. I'd rather we got called "the liverpool reds" once or twice a year and had plenty of cash, than to be referred to as Liverpool, but have to endure mediocrity for another season. It all depends on what is important to you I suppose.

But look at Hicks' track record in Sports. It's far better than Gillett's.

Plus he knows how to make money. They both do.

The club should be run more professionally from now on. Especially from a marketing/merchandise standpoint.

Perhaps it's a good thing that we've got 2 outsiders running the show in a way. There's no sentimental attachment to the old ways. We need to move with the times.

As long as they don't **** with the good things about LFC they'll be fine.

                            Agree.

The press conference is a good start.

But actions speak louder than words and only time will tell if it'll work.

The fact that there's no debt in buying the club and no Groundshare has really put my mind at ease though.
