I found myself with a big grin listening to Gillette. Now that may be first day excitement but they both certainly said the right things.

But there is no way we can judge them off a press conference.

I'm excited...truly. Its clear Rafa will get support. Summer will be very telling.
"What's your favourite Beatles album then?"
"I think I'd have to say....Best of the Beatles"

i feel pretty confident - neither came across as trying to be something they weren't - i.e. lifelong reds - and their first pr exercise was a match for DIC's love-in.

hicks looks like a big texan hardass and gillett looks and sounds quite gentlemanly/reserved but determined and respectful of our tradition - not bad qualities for money men backing our club. the old fashioned part of me really liked the way the see themselves as business families and were anxious to make this clear.

what would make me happier here is an end to "****in yanks, i hate em all, all 300 million of em but not as much as those ****in arabs - there's at least a billion of them and i've met everyone of them and their all nob-deep in their camels with shifty eyes and an obsession with honour despite being lying sand-monkeys but they had bottomless pockets like that mafia c/unt abramovich but i'm above all these *******s. never liked spics till rafa but he's just class - a rarity in his country unlike here where we're all honest to god hard-workin salt of the earth. it's too ****in hot in those places anyway. and their national anthems are ****e. ours is brilliant and i expect to feel just the same after my irony-transplant. hope some ****in foreign doctor doesn't do it. i want lord nigel coxley-farnworth to do it - i have much more in common with him..."

Only the most cynical amongst us could fail to have been impressed with both men. After the collapse of DIC last week I am now totally upbeat again. Well done to all involved.

I'm very happy with the deal

I was impressed by the both of them TBH. They seem genuine enough and as someone has already said they didn't pretend to be something that they aren't.

In regards to some on here being pissed off with the 'Franchise' comments, the following happened to me today which says it all IMO:

Manc lovin' mate texts me: 'Looks like it's a done deal now mate. They can't half talk these lads. Thing that made me laugh was the way they kept calling you lot a Franchise, haha.'

My reply: 'Of course they can talk, they're Yanks :-) All football clubs nowadays are franchise's, how do you think Man Ure make all their money ye plonker. As usual you lot are livin' in LaLa land. The best thing I heard in the press conference was that NO DEBT will be put onto the club unlike a certain other American owned Prem Club!!' HaHa

I'm still waiting on his reply

I get the feeling we have more money to spend than expected.

Rafa has no excuses now in my opinion.

That is what I don't like about the takeover. I'd expect/hope due dilligence for a project such as this to last alot longer - completing it in 3 days has a whiff of 'cowboy' about it (no pun intended).

is that what you WANT to believe though.

dont quite get why people think they are cowboys

                                Is it me ......

..or do the two new owners look like Statler and Waldorf...the 2 old guys off the balcony on The Muppets?

                                ....Franchise
                                ...Goal Tender

Jeez...what a pair of Schmucks? or is it Dorks?

(OMG it's started......!!!! even I've started)

Actually I'm joking. Welcome aboard lads. Strap yoursleves in for the ride of your lives...

BTW I nearly wet myself when Hicks erroneously referred to Manchester Utd as Manhattan!!!!

One thing I'd didn't like the sound of was "Co-chairmen" - that's no way to run abusiness. And look what happened when we had co-managers.
