Anyone who thinks Craig 'eight goals' Bellamy is good enough to start for side looking to win the title, is sadly deluded. I'm not Kuyt's biggest fan, but even he has been better than Bellamy this season.

That said, neither are the elusive 'goalscorer' we're after. According to many Liverpool fans these days, it seems...

Lazy, erratic striker who scores a lot of goals = Crap

Strikers that work hard, drop deep but dont score many goals = Good.

If Cisse was still at the club, he would be our top scorer this season, no question.
To be honest Jamo, I really rate Bellamy, and was chuffed when we signed him.

    I thought £6M was a bargain.

I hated him when he was at other clubs, cos he's the sort of nasty little ******* you hate to play against, but when he's on our side then I think that's sort of a good thing.

As mentioned before, he's not 'clinical' per se, but he's got a fairly good eye for goal, has pace to burn, likes to take a man on, and (as we saw today, although unfortunately to not-enough-effect) has the ability to scare the **** out of defences.

He hasn't performed as well as Dirk overall, but then Kuyt has been fairly gash these last few games. Certainly our friend Craig seemed to be the one giving the Barcodes a torrid time today, and had he not been so profligate in front of goal then no doubt people would have been creaming their pants over him.

    *eerie silence about Cisse*

Some valid points mate, cant really argue with that.

Six million was a decent price, and he was by far and away the best player on the park against Newcastle. But ultimately, if we're being brutally honest, he cost us the match, he should have had a hatrick....(Kuyt missed a great chance as well)

Bellamy is not the worst player in our squad, and away from home against slow defences, he'll always be a threat. I agree with Red Polo earlier in the thread, as a fourth choice striker, he might be worth holding onto, but if we want to win the league, we need much, much better.

Eight goals in 30-odd games is pretty poor...

Not a lot left to add to that really

Its wierd really, if you could throw Kuyt, Bellamy and Crouch into a pot, mix them up a bit, and a sprig of extra clinicality, and then get 2 strikers out, they'd be 2 absolutely top drawer players.

I really rate Bellamy, and I still think that for £6m we did pretty well. We don't really play to his natural style, and he did have a torrid time in the first couple of months, but, as with Kuyt, I really think our primary problems are far more in other areas of the park, and if we go into next season with our current trio and one new, high quality finisher, I'll be pretty happy with that area of the pitch at least.

                    Is it really that obvious?

Seriously though, I've been thinking about this, I reckon if you surgically removed Thierry Henry's little toes and gave them to Crouch, his balance would like, improve 200% man, he'd be like, awesome. Yeah, and if you took out Cisse's brain and....
