well litmanen came to us a 30 year old, and maybe the best was past him, however i don't consider Crespo a failure...

i know talent is not the only thing you need to live it up in the premier league, but i have seen lots of him and i know what he brings to the table, he's not a light weight tricky cheating south american, he's hard and he will fit in, i'll bet my left nut that he will. but i'm not saying he'll be the best in the world but he will be good for us that i am sure of...

The fact that he's praising them 6 months ago and before he moved he was whining like mad for FIFA to release him from his nightmare.
I've never known ANYTHING like it in my life. Young player joins a team, doesn't get picked and within 6 months is already whinging because he wants out.
I could maybe understand it if he'd said he can't settle in England and want to go back to South America, that I find acceptable, but his main whinge was that not being in the team was bad for his football. Shanks would have told him to pull his finger out of his arse and let his football do the talking.

Hmmm, we'll agree to disagree on this one. I think you are over simplifying the situation. I don't think El Jefe was in a position to determine his own future.

No worries though, 'cos I KNOW he will win you over with his performances.

Well it just struck me as a player with the wrong mentality to play for LFC, I'm very surprised if Rafa has blown 10 million quid on him and only given him an 18 month contract. Crazy

we are talking about an argentinian international, that west ham fans them selves have said that he gave it all he got the little he got that he worked his socks of in training and was one of the top trainers week in week out yet he couldn't make the team sheet, he's was wanted by the likes of Juve and Liverpool, yet he could make the bench, don't tell me it's cause he couldn't settle, or wasn't good enough.

he didn't show the west ham fans any disrespect, they were begging for him to be played and understood his frustration, and didn't want him to go...

Oh, and a small matter of the Falklands had just taken place, yet they excelled.
When did they sign for Spurs? I'm sure I remember Villa playing in the 81 FA cup whereas the Falklands conflict was in 1982

Anyway, I don't see what the Falklands has to do with anything, it was 25 years ago FFS and has no relevance today IMO.

Well in my opinion he should have given West Ham at least a season, to jump ship less than 6 months after joining is madness unless it's the change of country which you can't deal with.

They played through the abuse, and the uncertainty of those times, and gave it all, they were given a chance to do that and they succeeded.

You, otoh, have already dismissed out of hand Masher, not only in this thread, but in all the other threads you have mentioned him in, which is astonishing to say the least, it comes across as a very personal vendetta for some reason.

Thankfully, I trust Rafa's judgement in this matter, rather than your opinion of someone you have never seen play in a Red shirt.

Actually, Ozi buggered off during the war then came back, but I get your point.

west ham weren't going to give him **** and that was quite clear, and if you go on the west ham forums, you will see what they think of it, it seemed like he wasn't going to get a game for them if he stayed. it was a well dodgy deal, that had something in it that prevented him for playing for west ham, every one seems to agree on that except you even west ham fans agree on that...

It's not a personal vendetta, as I have reitterated numerous times.

I don't think he is a LFC type player though because of the way he shat on West Ham. Imagine if he does that to us in 6 months time and we've flushed 10 million quid down the ****ter. How will you feel then?
There are certain types of players, mercenaries, which I would prefer LFC to steer clear of.

So what if what shaggy said is true? What should he have done then? He'd have had no option than to leave. No?

It's all very weird to me. And as I've said before, I won't get excited until he actually starts doing the business for us, because he sure as hell didn't do it at West Ham...so hopefully in 6 months everyone getting all excited will have on their face rather than egg...
