About Stevie moving abroad and proving himself all over again.
I know most of you will probably disagree - but I can see where he's coming from. Off the top of my head, I can't think of one 'world class' player who has remained with his first club throughout the whole of his career*.
I know Stevie still has a way to go before he hangs up his boots - but if he IS going to go abroad - I would have to say it has to be in the next year or so IMO. We all know that recently Stevie has reiterated his desire to remain at our club for life - but would that stance change if we were to win the Premiership? After all - that is the only medal he's missing out of his winners collection at the moment.
And honestly - I'd say we're still a couple of years away from winning the premiership - by which time Stevie would be around 29? And would he then still have the pick of top European clubs to choose from? I'm not so sure..
On the positive side - we've just finally got the investment we've been seeking for the last 4/5 years. We've got a brilliant manager and the future does indeed look very bright. Let's also remember that having Stevie in our team would also help attract major players to our club. So does he really need to leave? After all - we all belive that Liverpool is a wonderful club to play for - especially for somebody who grew up supporting the reds from the Bluebell estate in Huyton.
The general consensus of opinion on here will be that he doesn't need to go abroad; he has everything he wants right here. What I'm saying is that I can understand Edmilson's point of view - even if it was meant by way of making mischief in the lead up to tonights game.
* Giggs/Scholes - maybe.
