A Robbie Fowler thread

Along with Gerrard and Carragher, Robbie Fowler is my all time Liverpool Hero.

Just such a great, off the cuff, natural, exciting player, as i'm only 19 i grew up watching him in all his glory and i really will miss him when he hangs up the boots.

I think thats a pretty decent assessment, would love him to get a champs league winners medal with us and then retire, would be a fitting end.

but only because he ain't going to get games.IMO he can still do a job but forward play these days is all about pace

It's clear he's no longer the player we once knew and loved.

They may only have been penalties today, but they were two great pens and personally I'm delighted and chuffed to have witnessed him notch a brace in a league game at Anfield again. Sadly, I think it may be the last time.

It's a touch ironic that, in the season that will prove to be his last, his goals to games ratio must be the best it's been for ages. Today's double takes his tally for the season so far to seven - and after a quick tot-up from today's programme, I make it from just seven starts.

It's a bit premature to be saying goodbye, but I just wanted to say:

Imagine how us "oldies" felt then when we had to say goodbye to Rush, Dalgleish, Hansen, Barnes, etc?

Thats the best thing about LFC. We will always have legends here that can be remebered by all kinds of generations.

Robbie got his dream come true by coming back. Fair enough he didn't get as many games as he would have hoped, but i'm sure before he did come back that he would have been happy to get one more game in the shirt. He got that and a bit more.

A great reunion with a Liverpool legend that Fowler is, but the modern game requires a bit more than sentiment, so we have to look forward to our next legend to come through.

If he was that little bit quicker and fitter he would still be a brilliant squad player for us to have. He could've been so much more and that's saying something because he's been a genuinely great player for us. Glad he came back to us, he will get the chance to say a proper goodbye this time.

I was pissed off when Lawrence, Strong, Lawler, Byrne, Milne, Smith, Yeats, Arrowsmith,Thompson, Cally, Sir Roger and St John blah blah blah all passed their sell by date (particularly Sir Roger) and I was in the Kop for Heighways, Emmos, Keegan's Rushy's first games for us and others...

I still reckon that if Robbie had more games he's score more goals. But Rafa's the gaffa, and I'm not. He's also a multi-millionaire, and I'm not. He's also...balah blah blah

He's still a goalscoring machine.

Stick him in a genuinely offensive team, like Man Utd or Arsenal, and he would still score 20 goals a season.

That pass today for Stevie's goal was class too...it's shame he's past it now but I think it's ****in brilliant we still get flashes of what an awesome player he was. Take those pens for example, was there any doubt he'd score? And tbh most of our other takers are distinctly dodgy...

It's been said before, but can't we introduce the rule that a specialist comes on just for penos? American Football can have their kickers, we want our pen takers!!

Can you imagine Robbie bending, stretching, limbering up, jogging on the spot prior to a pen? No!, neither can I!!
