However, quick rationale using examples - double standards, champions league final - entitled to go over because he was touched, yesterday he wasn't entitled to. Well he either is or he isn't entitled to go down when he is fouled make your mind up. The nature of the occasion should not cloud your judgement.

In the CL final the ref was right to give a penalty the same as yesterday. I did not like the way Steve went down in either case.

To sum up, and hopefully end this discussion: Steve should have stayed on his feet both yesterday and in the CL final and he should have gotten a penalty in both cases.
My opinion is he sometimes falls down much to easily and I dont like that.

If that was Ronaldo/Drogba we would be crucifying them,really poor player by the skipper.. i thought Kozluk was merely doing what every player does in the box defending a set piece, trying to hold their marker off, he wasn't particular aggressive or anything but Gerrard made sure the ref saw him

Good play on Gerrard's part you can say but it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Rules are rules and they should be enforced. I am well happy Bennett gave the penalty. I am sick and tired of seeing the likes of Chavski and the Scum holding in the area during corners. Hopefully this will stop this cancer in the game.

I actually think what Stevie did was the intelligent option. The holding of players in the area has become increasingly ludicrous in the PL. If you can show the ref that it is going on and the defender is too stupid to either a/ move away temporarily or b/ put his hands by his sides. I honestly think that it is a sensible use of the rules to gain an advantage (like taking a quick free kick before the keeper is prepared) rather than similar to a dive, which is blatant cheating.

Holding at corners is a real pet hate of mine. It ranks up there with allowing defenders to "shepard the ball out", which is blatant obstruction. The rules are there to alter the balance in favour of better, more attacking football without reducing the importance of the skills of good defending.

That one gets my goat.

True. Furious with the idiot who put his arms around an opponent whilst the ref was watching.
You can't blame the ref for giving a penalty.
It wasn't a "dive" in the respect that gerrard was diving to con the ref into giving a penalty. A dive which deserves a booking is for diving when there is no contact in a blatant attempt to con the referee.
So penalty - YES
Soft penalty - YES
Yellow card for Gerrard - certainly not.
Dive - certainly not

Gerrard did emphasise the effect of contact but never the less, there was contact so it can't be a dive.
