Knowing RS4 the info is spot on.

But don't they have to re-apply for planning permission?

    Doesn't that take ages?

And what about the grant money, when does that offer lapse?

Despite the questions/concerns I'd be delighted if they upped the capacity. 60,000 was never enough IMO. 65,000 is probably ideal. But we could fill 70,000 for just about every game I reckon. How many people have been on a waiting list for years for season tickets? Enough said.

          That's exciting news.

I think we've all been dying to see some action, to see what kind of changes a new owner(s) might make, and this looks like being the first thing.

Yeah, I know, 8m is still far too far away from the pitch...

But then the Kop loses its front few rows in Europe, so it must be a good 5/6 meters away from the pitch, no ?

              Thanks RS4

As for the 8 metres debate, it does sound a bit far away, but I trust Mr Hicks to get it right.

I wonder why they had to sack the architects to do this. Maybe they weren't working efficiently enough.
I love those stadiums where you right up close to the pitch, you feel as though you're on top of the pitch. That's what we need

But like I say, I have faith in Hicks

Isn't the height of the advertising boards for European nights also an issue (I'm sure I read or heard about that a couple of years ago?!?)

Apparently Statler and Waldorf (Hicks and Gillett) have sacked the Manchester-based architects Atherden Fuller Leng (AFL) and appointed another firm from London. And just to please all those of you out there that don't think 60,000 is enough, the new architects have been given a specific brief - increase the capacity to 70,000.

I've no idea how they will do that as I've always said the planning permission granted was based on 60,000 (or 61,000 to be more precise) being the maximum limit set after considering the infrastructure and the effect on the roads, etc, of an extra 16,000 fans at each game.

Anyway, I thought I'd pass on the news...
A different, more worrying version of the same rumour...

If this is true we will have at least another season added onto the original 'two more seasons left at Anfield' line...

                        Blimey.

All I'll say is that I trust Hicks with this. When they took over, I asked on here if it was too late to scrap/modify the plans or at least let Hicks to "do his stuff". I was told it was far too late but it would seem that Hicks thinks we can do better. I'm glad - so do I.

Haha, I had to chuckle at that little coincidence. It's not me, and nor to my knowledge is it Groucho/Maestro/Will.

Oh well, it is interesting news though.

Let's all hope I get a season ticket

                                Ta for the news RS4.

I'd love to see us build a stadium that is capable of holding 70K fans - if it doesn't feck up the proposed opening date of the new ground.
