Cheers RS4. Hopefully the tram will be running by then, that would go some way to improving things.

I hope it is true and as well as the increase to 70,000 the stands are steeper and more frightening for the opposition - Rafa was quoted a while back as wanting our new stands similar to La Bombonera (Boca Juniors) where the stands are steep and feel as though the fans are on top of you. If that and a single tier kop can be delivered by Gillett and Hicks then that would be jawdroppingly good.

If we really are 'starting again from scratch', the stadium wont be up and running for at least three seasons after this one, possibly four.Originally posted by Marshy View PostI hope it is true and as well as the increase to 70,000 the stands are steeper and more frightening for the opposition - Rafa was quoted a while back as wanting our new stands similar to La Bombera (Boca Juniors) where the stands are steep and feel as though the fans are on top of you. Did he really say that? A stadium in the mould of Boca's frankly AWESOME ground would be ****ing incredible. I was majorly disappointed with the plans for our stadium - too generic and bland IMO. I thought Hicks' arrival was too late but let's hope we get a ****ing cracker of a new ground now.Originally posted by Marshy View PostI hope it is true and as well as the increase to 70,000 the stands are steeper and more frightening for the opposition - Rafa was quoted a while back as wanting our new stands similar to La Bombera (Boca Juniors) where the stands are steep and feel as though the fans are on top of you. I agree - no sense in jumping the gun just so we can get a stadium in place in 2 seasons and get the cash rolling in. A further delay of a year or two is fine by me if it means we get the right stadium. We'll be stuck with it forever and so cant afford to get it wrong - like Shaggy says, curent design looks very generic. Seems no different to Emirates or RiversideOriginally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostDid he really say that? A stadium in the mould of Boca's frankly AWESOME ground would be ****ing incredible. Yep, me too. It's all about long-term, sustained success on and off the pitch - as Rick Parry said. There's no real rush.Originally posted by anfieldanfield View PostAgree with that.
If we have to delay by a year or two you won't hear a peep of complaint out of me. Besides, if it means squeezing another couple of years out of the grand old ground, then I'd be ****ing delighted. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Agreed. We only have one chance to get it right. If it means at extra season at Anfield then so be it. The Americans know how to build stadia and we should therefore be patient. It has to be right.

I think it would be very sad if we couldn't win the league at Anfield just one more time.

I'm happy to put up with an extra years delay if it means I get my season ticket
In going for a bigger ground there's no point in making it bland and lacking in atmosphere. A steep sided stadium is what is required.
I think the Americans starting from scratch, is not the same as the old regime starting from scratch. It won't take the Americans as long to sort it out as it did the old regime. The only sticking point will be if planning permission needs re-submitting.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

This from last September;
Rafael Benitez has praised Liverpool fans and says the club must transfer the Kop atmosphere to the new ground.
The club is looking to move to a new stadium in Stanley Park but Rafa Benitez says the new Anfield must have the special atmosphere that the current ground has.
"My dream is to lead out the team at the new Anfield and, if I stay here for three or four more years, then we have that possibility. That would make me really happy. The atmosphere in Anfield is amazing. And, if we can do the same in another big stadium, that will be perfect," said Benitez.
"I have been talking to the chairman and Rick Parry about how to do this. It's not easy but I think we can do it. How can you keep the spirit? You can if you keep the support.
"Then, in maybe 50 years' time, we can talk about the history of the new stadium. But we must feel the supporters behind us.
"Anfield has always been special because of the boot room, the people, winning trophies, the supporters. So just think about a new Anfield with even more fans.
"The design will be so important. When you talk about a new stadium, it's not necessary to plan one too big.
"If that happens, you separate the supporters from the pitch. The new stadium can be closer and still bigger. I've been to the Boca Juniors stadium - La Bombonera - and that's fantastic.
"The stands are very steep and I remember being on the bench and the supporters were above me. The atmosphere was amazing. The screaming came from above your head. It's like a coliseum.
"The Kop is amazing. So are all our supporters around the ground. If we can bring these people, plus 10,000 or 15,000 more and, if we are close to the pitch, the atmosphere will be the same as Anfield." END.
If we can get steep stands like Boca's, a new single tier kop and an increase in capacity then i'd be happy to wait an extra year for our new Anfield - plus we get another year of old Anfield.Last edited by Marshy; 11-03-07, 05:02 PM.

I'm sure they take advice about the atmosphere from lots of sources and I'm sure they take Rafa's advice very seriously.
The Americans will whip this stadium up ASAP, the only sticking point will be the local council IMO.Originally posted by Gordon Brown
