I though he was arsenals worst player in the final.

I cant see it happening anyway, but im not overly bothered, i never saw him at seville - but he has been at madrid and arsenal since... and hes done nowt exciting.

Can anyone tell me what position he actually plays?

I've seen him described as a centreal midfielder, an attacking midfielder and as a striker.

From watching him, I'm not all that much clearer.

Perhaps this is exactly the kind of player Benitez would go for though - after all, he's forever banging on about players who can play "between the lines".

To be fair, he's low on confidence and hasn't really had a proper run since he's been at the Goonies, so I don't know how much of a fair judgement one can make based on his performances in the Prem.

As for Madrid, they had him playing all over the park, so again was difficult to make a judgement.

The jury is out as far as I'm concerned.

Why sign a player who has flopped for a rival? He is clearly not upto the task of playing in England. And as already said, wherewould we play him?

We need goalscorers and wingers. An exception to that would be if Kaka became available. I have it on good authority that Baptista is off to Spain anyhow.
            Forwards.......

At this rate we'll go going for the tried and tested 1-9-0 formation.

                        Anyone heard of this chap?

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is ready to swoop for Athletic Bilbao defender Mikel San Jose. (Daily Mirror)
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Surprised you didn't start a new thread with that piece of rivetting snippet.

But no, to answer your question.

The info is out there though:

Spanish daily newspaper AS has reported that Liverpool are interested in signing Athletic Bilbao youngster Mikel San Jose Dominguez.

The 17-year-old has not yet signed a professional contract with the Spanish side and is still to make a first-team appearance.

San Jose has scored five goals in 24 youth team appearances, something which has attracted the attention of Rafa Benitez to the Spanish under-19 international.

If he chooses to join Liverpool, it is believed that Athletic would only receive somewhere in the region of 100,000 euro (£69,000) as a means of compensation for San Jose, similar to the deal the Reds struck with Malaga for Francis Duran in January.

"Referred to as the "Beast of Sevilla" and even as the "Brazilian Steven Gerrard" [2], Júlio Baptista began his professional career in 2000 as a defensive midfielder with São Paulo F.C., before moving to Spanish club Sevilla FC in 2003. Between 2003 and 2005 he made 63 appearances and scored 38 goals for Sevilla, having switched position so that he operated further forward."

Then Real Madrid bought and played him as a midfielder, when he went to ARSEnal at first he was overweight and he's been played all over the pitch by Wenger and is adjusting.

If the Beast plays full time as a striker he's way better than anything we've got upfront.
