If he was a "no name" then I am sure people would be a lot more supportive...... I dont know why Gonzo gets such an easy time!

I'd rather we bought in some real quality and kept Ashley as half-decent back-up.

Now he's settled a bit more he's starting to play okay. I still don't think he's got what it takes to be an integral part of a title-winning team, but he's not as bad as a lot of people make out.

Plus he's still young, for all we know he could get better and better. I think if we sold him now we wouldn't really get that much back on him, and then we'd be left short of options on the right.

      Keep him, and buy better

We obviously want our top scorers to have more than 7, which they do, but we also need goals from our wide midfield players. United have Ronaldo contributing nearly 20 from the flanks, Giggs usually in double figures.

Pennant has improved loads and his crossing is getting much more consistent, but he needs to add a goal threat to his game.
and it's not just scoring goals he needs to do. He needs to contribute more in the build up and generally get involved more in games. He puts a few good balls in the box but the rest of the time you wouldn't know he was on the pitch.

At the moment the strikers are scoring from the few good balls that he has crossed into the box and so it is making his game look better than it actually is. If our strikers had missed those chances and scored a different player's assists then we would not be talking JP up nearly as much.

When I am watching him I never feel that he is a threat when he is running with the ball and IMO that is one of the most important characteristics of a world class winger. When Ronaldo or Giggs or Robben or Duff or Lennon or SWP are on form and running with the ball they look like they can cut through defenders like a knife through hot butter. JP just does not have this in his lock up, at the moment anyway. Until he develops this part of his game he will not be the world class winger that we need.

Hmmm, that does have an attractive ring to it, but then what if the 'better' option takes a season to settle?

I'd keep him for now, buy the much better First Team option, save a bit of cash on the Squad option, and spunk the rest on a quality goalscorer.

If he hasn't improved after another season, move him on

Doesn't matter - the "much better" option will be 1st choice and on form...

                    The "better" option's only back-up!

Another good performance from JP today. Nice cross for Dirk's 1st goal and generally caused problems all day for Wigan on both flanks.
Keep it up lad, next season could be even better

He had a great game today. Taking the piss out of Baines every time he got the ball. I'm putting his good form down to the encouragement I always give him from my seat in the Lower Cent. So well done Jermaine, and well done me.
