I'm aware of that, but look at the first half we had. I'm not trying to be confrontational with my answer above, but I still think it makes a big difference.

We had a fair slice of luck to win in 2005 - Smicer's goal should have been ruled offside during the build up, the world best striker in my eyes (Shevchecko) missed from less than the length of my, em, cat, and also hit the worst penalty since Lineker had the chance to equal Charlton's goal record for England against Brazil. Add to that Rafas tactical nous and the drive that Carragher particularly brought to the side. Can you see any side outside of Inter, Real or Barca being able to produce two so totally different halves of football?

I don't think it matters anymore whether you have experience in a CL final or not, ever since our win in 2005 all bets are off as to who is favourite and what will happen.

I just hope it isn't the scum we face in the final though, for numerous reasons, but if it works out that way that it is, I think we can do it, but the day will be a living hell.

I haven't read the whole thread so apologies if this has already been mentioned.

But. . . Just for arguements sake ourselves and our friends from Manchester do indeed make the final in Athens surely an idea would be to do the same as they do in Cardiff, and also what they did in Istanbul, I didn't see an Italian all bloody day- Split the city in half- keep the mancs one side and us on the other.

It's not hard with a huge police presence and also bizzie's from Merseyside and Manchester over there. Anyway- we're almost certain to get chelsea in the semi so i'm more concerned about that at the moment!

Don't forget how absolutely awful Man Ure are in Europe. They've won something like 2 knockout ties since '99? And one of those was this season.

I got physically sick when John O'Shea scored at the kop end in the last minute of our last game. It was like someone close to me had died and it was really a nothing game. The prospect of such a thing is ruining my life, so much so that I won't be watching our potential semi-final opponents tomorrow night - I'll be watching the Mancs, screaming for a Roma win.

To beat those scumbags in a European Cup final would be THE greatest moment of my life - bar none.

To lose to them in a final would be one of the very lowest - certainly the lowest football moment and even worse than Arsenal in 89.

I'd really rather not take the risk. It would be unbearable, absolutely unbearable.

And I haven't even mentioned the carnage that would inevitably take place off the pitch. It would be hell. Genuine carnage on the streets of Athens, in the airports and even on the ****ing planes. Chaos. We'd all be kicked out of Europe for ten years.

I feel exactly the same way. The thought of playing the ****s in the final is killing me. It's weirdly difficult to enjoy our own games with the shadow of United looming over us.

I swear if Roma knock United out of the CL I will be a Roma fan forever.
