I just think it's highly unlikely. He has never indicated he'd like to play in England, in fact quite the contrary.

Rafa has a record of not buying the mega-stars.

Real, Barca not to mention Chelsea would be massive rivals for a signing of that caliber 25m plus is not unfeasible.

We may have more money, but the club is still being run as a business with revenue streams increased to match increased expenditure. In order words more money, but nothing silly.

The PL is also not as physical as it has been and that makes it easier for foreign players to adapt.

If a player have a good enough first touch and is quick enough then he won't have any problems to adapt to the PL. Villa is quick and skillful enough for the PL.

Nando for example wasn't quick enough and that was the main reason to why he didn't deliver for us.

I don't think Rafa will get £70m+ to spend every summer. I believe Rafa will spend big this summer. If he do that on the right players then he won't need to spend that much in the future.

Only Finnan is over 30 years old of the players that started last night so Rafa have a very young team.

Spend big this summer and we would then be in the Man U situation and would only need to sign one or two players/season.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

He has though. Recently he's made noises about signing for Chelsea. I agree that he'd probably be more likely to go to Real or Barca, but I don't think him at least coming to the Premiership is that unlikely.

He still has a predilection for spreading money around the squad as opposed to buying one key player... in fact many criticised him for it.

Last summer was a particular example of this.

Shevchenko has actually lost a lot of pace... brilliant business by AC Milan IMO.

He, like Moro, looks like he's running with moon boots on as well.

Last season we couldnt because we never had the depth of squad, but this season, he is admitting his 'sckwaad' is better.
You look at it now, we had cover for centre mid, upfront, goal keeper, full back, even on the wings if they want to play gerrard riise and aurelio, we have players who can swap positions and adapt to different formations without making a sub.
All we need is a cover centre back, A good left and right mid and a striker, they can all be 10-15 million players. Thats without selling. I dont think Bent will command 15million for a start.

When he wanted to sign a very expensive player for Valencia the board signed a cheaper one instead. The sofa and lamp story.

Our board has so far not been able to back him if Rafa wanted to sign a very expensive player.

That's pure journo speculation mate. How can you be sure that he was looking to sign a big 'star' player ? Rafa was saying things about 'planning for the future' and the 'development of young players' before his meeting with Gillett and Hicks. Some time ago he was stating that we could 'move quicker' in the transfer market. All that doesn't mean he'll splash big on a proven player. He may do that, but it's not a certainty.

As for being given £ 70 million, mate, you're having a larf.
