Rafa to launch £15m bid for D.Bent

I dont know about Bent but i do know that one of the things that has pissed Rafa off is how bad Parry is when it comes to completing transfers. They always seem to drag on and on.

We had a chance to sign Walcott for around £3.5 million but Parry thought it too expensive so the transfer wasnt sanctioned, we all know how much he ended up going for.

Aguero is another one who Rafa was interested in but deemed too expensive.

This is one of the things i think Gillett and Hicks will do. They will allow us to compete for the top youngsters coming through as well as maybe picking up a veteran to help the team along. Henry anyone.

I think Gillet & Hicks sons will now be involved in all transfer dealings & negotiations

He is the fourth best english striker after Owen, Rooney and Crouch so I wouldn't be disappointed if we signed him but if we signed him then we would need to sign another striker because Bent as the only big striker signing would be to much of a gamble.

Just think some have fallen foul of a kind of snobbery. These are - by and large - the same people who complained about the Crouch signing.

As ever people write off anyone who isn't a big name or that doesn't do the business on CM5 or whatever. Bent is quite clearly a very useful player, his record for Charlton is excellent. In all truth if he played for a top 4 side, he'd be an England regular. At £12m to £15m he'd be a good piece of business. If we are to challenge for the title we need proven Premiership players, and Bent is that.

Eto'o is far & away my 1st choice but I'd not be dismayed at Bent coming. Villa i'm sure is a useful player but for me he'd have it all to prove. He's the latest talking horse, the next big thing from Europe. Well plenty have failed before, Van Der Vaart, Joaquin, Reyes etc. All massive reputations who've gone on to only disappoint. i'm not saying Villa won't turn out to be the player many think he is, but unlike many on here, I don't see it as a forgone conclusion either.
