Because teams like Milan, Inter, Man U and Chelsea have more money than us. Arsenal also have a player they can use as bait, Henry.Originally posted by einar View PostWhy do you assume we wont be able to compete for Eto?Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

our new owners said they will compete with all teams, with possibly the exception of the Chavs, in the tansfer market. I have no reason to doubt them at present.Originally posted by AFII View PostBecause teams like Milan, Inter, Man U and Chelsea have more money than us. 'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

I remember what they said but I think even they have a limit to what they are prepared to pay for a player.Originally posted by bazza76 View Postour new owners said they will compete with all teams, with possibly the exception of the Chavs, in the tansfer market. Take Milan for example who is prepared to pay £81m for Ronaldinho and Inter is prepared to pay even more for Messi. Inter are also interested in Eto'o.
I don't think our new owners or Rafa is prepared to pay £50m+ for a player.
It's a big difference this summer with Juve coming back to Serie A, the new TV deal and a lot of big clubs prepared to spend big.
As I have said, I think that Eto'o already have decided to move to us and that will drop the price.Just believe and you never know what will happen.

The money is increasing in the EPL to.
If Rafa says Eto is a key player and top priority I would not be surprised if we spent more then 40m on one player.
It is all about calculating who much money we will make on the player.
Look at Figo. A year after he went to Real they had gotten his purchase price back selling his merchandise and such things.
With the TV money increasing now it is impossible for us to determine what a player is worth.

The key to the possible signings of Eto'o & Villa are the players themselves. If Rafa wants one of them & the player really wants to come to LFC then a deal will be done. However, the player really must want to come to us rather than any other club. If it becomes a bidding war with other clubs, we will be outbid. If the player really wants to move to us, the selling club is almost powerless. Eventually, they have to deal with us at a realistic price. No club wants a top player who really wants to go elsewhere. Its like SG to Chelsea a year or 2 back. At one point SG wanted to go so LFC had no option but to deal with Chelsea. It would be the same with Eto'o/Villa.AKA Heighway No9
