I agree but thats what the man said. Arsenal were the ones to catch for match day revenue and with their ground being the same size, something has to give.

If Liverpool stay in Anfield then they get European money and money from the NWDA. They move and they dont pushing up costs by atleast a further £20mil.

Some of the land around the motorways is also greenbelt and I fancy it'd be a lot harder to concrete that lot than it would be to get around a handfull of Evertonian councillors.

61k and an improved infrasructure and life into the area will smooth the councils fears of just going balls deep for 80-90k. Its easier for them to take a rise of 20k than it is a rise of 40-50k. It makes sense to build the new ground rather than wait another 6 years before moving.

They'll build the new ground and while its all taking shape, start on the applications for expansion. 61k is to tide us over and make more money while we wait. It makes perfect business sense. Waiting means more cost in the long run and us falling further behind.
To be honest I really don't see what problems people have with these plans they look spot on to me, build what we have permission for now, apply for permission to make larger once building has started, and then we can expand at our leisure.

There's no evidence we'll fill more than 60k (although i'm sure we will), so lets see how we go with 60k and if there's still demand then of course expand up to 70k and further to 80k if needed, but we need to start making money on the new stadium asap, and i'm happy for the stadium to stay local rather than move to the outskirts, just for transport reasons.

So it's three seasons left at Anfield then ?

How do you think the club will allocate tickets for the last ever game at Anfield ?!

You'll probably have to have the previous 17 home games that season on your fancard!!

What you'd save in improving the design , and capacity, would be close (if not exceed) the grants and the monies required to expand an existing building at a later date.

In a £200m+ construction bill, £20m isn't that much to replace / save by improving the design and subsequent revenue from the increased capacity.

imagine if it was final game of the season vs mancs or chavs to decided the league title, that match would be amazing

I don't think money is really an issue anyway G and T have already said construction costs are going to be higher than the 180mil figure that was first said

                  I wouldn't like that.

I'd prefer a deadrubber of a game against Fulham or something.

What bothers me most is that the current design is boring. If it is really gonna be "the best in the world" it has to change.

The new stadium should be a trademark, not only for LFC but for the whole city.

Build the stadium in the shape of Liverbird! Now that would be something!
