He will be on the bench for both the second leg versus Chelsea and the Final for that very reason.
Rafa was asked at the beginning of the season if we had a last minute penalty to win the League, who he would want to take it.
He said Robbie. And I'd agree with that 100%. His force has left him, but I would back him in any situation from the penalty spot.

I actually was hoping that Bolo would leave that free-kick to him last night - you don't need to be able to run for set pieces.

It was a quality kick though - didn't realise Zenden had it in him

I hope Rafa gives Fowler a new 6 year 200,000 a week contract.

Come on carheex. We all love/worship/adore Fowler (****s sake...I drink my tea at home out of one of my two Fowler mugs), but surely you can see he's on his last legs? His football brain still works, but his legs don't.

That is an awful lot of pressure to put on anybody. Remember his last season with Citey? Last minute penalty kick for 3 points to put them into Europe for the first time in god knows how long, it was poorly taken by Robbie and saved by the Boro keeper. Citey went on a downward trend after failing to make Europe that season. If the same scenario cometh, it would be a terrible thing to remember him by.... missing last min peno and we go on to lose.

I feel sick in the stomach already .....

Aye. But who else would take it? The only other person I could imagine would be Stevie, and his penalties are hardly monumental...

yeah i agree with that, u saw the same thing with teddy sheringham for the last few seasons, glimpses of sheer brilliance and vision but not the legs to finish

I think it's a bit harsh to judge the guy, who clearly isn't match fit due to lack of opportunities, by one sub appearance in a top competition where he at least got an assist! Give him a run of games and he'll produce the goods - he's proved this over and over and still has our best goals:games ratio. That's all I'm saying.

Carheex, why do you think Rafa doesn't play him?
                            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

                              Robbie's miles past his best.
Lets be honest he was past his best when he left for Leeds under GH, nevermind now. He's not near the standard of player we need. Robbie was a great player but injuries and his unprofessional attitude off the pitch have caught up with him.
