Isnt Arsenals match day revenue with the corporate boxes etc extremely close to Uniteds despite the huge difference in capacity?

After Gillett saying the other week that the Emirates was the model that they would look to emulate I would expect them to exploit the corporate side of things as much as possible

Obviously corporate hospitality would be a big thing, but then you're taking seats away from the real fans.

      Bit of a catch 22.
I think its VERY close in terms of revenue I remember reading it the other week

We would have a large capacity but with the corporate benefits that Arsenal have achieved

There will still be plenty of room for the average Joe

Lec as said earlier by Memsey I think Arsenal have set new records for match day revenue. I would not be suprised if G&T wanted to set an even higher figure.

If they can combine the two, then that would be the ideal scenario.

16,000 more people doesn't necessarily mean OT would have more revenue than New Anfield.

We are building a stadium from scratch and we don't know what hospitality plans G & T have.

The total revenue from our 80,000 seater might be similar to OT's 96,000 capacity (if they ever expand it to that).

Leaving the existing pitch in the new park is a lovely idea.I`ll be over with me spade to take a little bit of The hallowed turf home(Like a thousand others i`d imagine) when New Anfield opens.

From the comments Warren Bradley has made in the article it looks like it could be a goer.

Another point about expanding Old Trafford is that it is estimated it would cost more than all their other expansions put together, well over £100m so it may not ever see the day.

I'm just glad we're going to have a 'unique' new stadium build and not a soulless type that Arsenal's is and other new builds are - the same bland look all the way round. In fact it will be great to compare our new stadium build with OT too as Utd have also gone down that road of trying to make OT the same all the way round without any thought of making their ground stand out in a unique way - oops I forgot their hideous 'upper quadrants' - they ARE unique.

Our new Anfield is going to have an 18,000 single tier stand alone kop (50% bigger than our current kop which is 12,000) as the focal point of the stadium with the other stands standing steeply and intimidatingly over the edge of the pitch - as they would HAVE to be given that we're increasing capacity way above the original 61,000 and the council are NOT allowing us to increase the overall footprint and encroach even further onto Stanley Park. I feel really optimistic that G&H are going to build us something special.

For what it's worth my mate Tony worked on the quadrants at OT and was told that that was it as far as OT is concerned, capacity wise. The steel cantelevers for the roof cost an absolute fortune and must stay where they are. Going up is not a possibility. The "railway" stand side CANNOT be developed further as it involves Railtrack who are a nightmare to deal with. You just can't build over or move the railway. This process would take years and years.
Aside of the fact more of us will get in and more revenue will be earned for players etc the phsychological blow of us throwing up a spanking new ground holding 80,000+ would be ****ing devastating to the Mancs. They would be absolutely gutted. The one thing they've had on us over the years is the size of OT. To see that boast removed will be priceless.

the arse charge massive amounts for tickets at their new stadium. their cheapest season ticket is 850 quid with the most expensive being 1850 quid. with match days being 46 to 94 quid aswell.

i'm sure arsenal make more money than man u on match days.

There is a railway line in the way the other side, no where to go.

Theoretically they can build over it and get compulsory purchase orders on the houses on the other side of it but it may be 1) Too costly for them, yes even them and 2) Too impractical given the logistics of building over a railway line (A terrorists wet dream) and the fact they're only just filling out OT now - i've been told tickets for their CL semi against Milan were going for way under face value in the hours leading upto kick off - and they're going for a treble too, unthinkable in times gone by for them. I've felt for some time that they've now reached their 'elastic limit' capacity wise and I think the crazy price hikes the Glazers are forcing on them coupled with the impracticalities of expanding further - I think OT may be staying at 76,000 for some time to come.
