What if Rafa spends 30 million plus on a striker and he flops?

Will this put Rafa under pressure from the owners?

Is Rafa a risk taker? I just cannot imagine him spending silly money on a forward - maybe for around 20 million (Torres, Huntelaar) but the 30-40 million bracket (Villa, Eto'o) seems out of Rafas comfort zone IMO.

Does anyone know who his most expensive signing for Valencia was?

Don't know about Valencia but Rafa knows he needs better players to challenge for the title. That's why Parry and Moores knew they needed to do something radical to keep Rafa.
I'm sure Rafa has no problem in taking risks

If he signs a player like Eto'o, Villa or Tevez and he flops then he would get most of the money back anyway if he sold him.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I think the other way of looking at this is if Rafa is offred the money, doesn't spend it and then doesn't win the league what would they think - there would be more pressure in this scenario.
If Rafa spends the money they would like to win the league but I would imagine they would be ok with a close second.

i think if he does sign a bigname that everyone wants then they turn out to be a flop well we shouldn't really complain about it!

Theres a risk with every signing, and even Eto wouldnt be a foregone conclusion, but with the calibre of player we're talking about, the risk should be considerably less.

I get the impression he is not that comfortable with 'superstar' players and all the baggage that comes with them, i.e. media, outside commitments, wanting to be loved all the time (ask Stevie G about that one!).

i have thought long and very ****ing hard on this and my conclusion is this. BUY TEVEZ & HUNTELAAR!!!!
In my opinion these two are as much a guarantee of success as any and at a decent price....alongside 2 good wingers the outlay could only be £50 mill, with sales the net outlay could be as little as £30 mill which we would usually bloody spend!!
I really hope we get those 2.

Rafa doesnt strike me as being the type of manager to blow bubbles up these players arses, but IMO its a fact of life these days in football management that a degree of ego-massaging needs to be done.

                      Look at Sheva and Ballack.

A reason to why I want us to sign two strikers(Tevez and Huntelaar) instead of one(Eto'o) is that we would be in trouble if Eto'o got a long term injury.

wed also be in trouble if the 2 of who ever we were to buy got injured, theres always the chance of injury.
i keep saying it,but we need that one player who scares the **** out of opponents.
a player who makes fans and players a like think,**** it,we have to face(fill in the blank)today,to me that player would be eto`o.

i also think if rafa spent 30 mil on eto`o and he flopped,it wouldnt have a bearing on his position.

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but am I sensing that you want us to sign Tevez and Huntelaar?
