It doesn't help that we have been blessed with out & out home grown strikers, but they haven't won us the league since they arrived on the scene, hence, it may not after all be what we are missing.

Kuyt has always dropped off the play and worked between the lines

Its all about opinions but for me Tevez would come after two wingers and an out and out goalscorer

One out of the lot mentioned is not far fetched imo.
I think we will get Eto'o*

I totally agree with this. for me, Tevez is an excellent player, but will never score '20 goals a season'. However i believe he will make up for this with his all round play and many assists.

What i believe we need is a left winger, who can run and scare defenders and a striker who can put those half chances in. This will especially help us in tight games, where you may only get once chance.
Top players and top teams will put those chances away.

I think you are underestimating Eto'o in the air - remember the Chelsea goal last season

Hes better than Torres and Villa in the air imo

The way you've been discussing Eto'o it's as if you think he's coming here.

I hope this is the case.

This season he seems to have deliberately decided to go inside all the time which leaves the flank undefended, reduces the space with which our deep midfielders have to play and also biases our whole team to the left - where we have no good winger.

He needs to learn to do a job when called upon.

He has improved as a deep lying CM but it has been at the expense of the team in my opinion.
Excellent point that about Gerrard this season mate. But I can only assume he is drfiting in so much at the request of Rafa. If not he would have been told in no uncertain terms to hug the right wing more like he did last season.

What I think and what actually happens are two different things

Hes our No.1 target from what I have heard and we will be prepared to spend BIG money on him

Just as a side despite the flurry of speculation in the national press the Echo & Daily Post have been VERY quiet. The only player that has been mentioned recently (in a Football Echo a couple of weeks ago) was.... Eto'o

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

The local press have been unbelievably quiet of late, a sure sign that things are at full pace behind the LFC scenes.

great news that eto'o is our no.1 target, he's clearly the best forward around at the moment. he has everything you could ask for, pace, power, good finisher, good touch, decent in the air, good at holding the ball up. He'd cost plenty but would be worth every penny.

Its quite amazing really that Barca are even considering selling Eto'o (albeit for a hefty wedge). If rumours are to be believed and Henry is available too then IMO that means the best two strikers in the world are both up for sale. Tie that in with the one season in years that we might actually have some heavyweight money to spend and the fact that we are riding high in Europe again and that makes this THE best chance we have ever had to sign some of the worlds best players. I am praying we dont waste the opportunity like we did in 2005.
