What if Rafa spends 30 million plus on a striker and he flops?

I tend to agree it is about having at least three threats in the team. Currently with Gerrard playing deep we require our forwards to do far to much on their own. With Garcia back and two attacking midfielders on the flanks who posed a threat I think we would be much better off than buying in two expensive strikers."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

And the width needs to have real speed, and be cohesive, our CM & defence is sorted, we have quite a decent strikeforce as it is, it is linking them as a unit is what we need, and SG can't/doesn't do that, with SG, Tevez, quality width & Kuyt/Crouch that would really be a handful to keep occupied for sure.Originally posted by dww View PostI tend to agree it is about having at least three threats in the team. Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

The single most annoying thing for me this season is the fact that Gerrard has seemed to decide that even if names at right mid he will always play centrally. Last season he raided from the right to very good results. This season he seems to have deliberately decided to go inside all the time which leaves the flank undefended, reduces the space with which our deep midfielders have to play and also biases our whole team to the left - where we have no good winger.Originally posted by lfc4ever View PostAnd the width needs to have real speed, and be cohesive, our CM & defence is sorted, we have quite a decent strikeforce as it is, it is linking them as a unit is what we need, and SG can't/doesn't do that, with SG, Tevez, quality width & Kuyt/Crouch that would really be a handful to keep occupied for sure.
He needs to learn to do a job when called upon.
He has improved as a deep lying CM but it has been at the expense of the team in my opinion."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I am fairly confident that AF's wishes will be shatterred just like last season when he wanted Aguerro & KloseOriginally posted by Maestro View PostSo, correct me if I'm wrong, but am I sensing that you want us to sign Tevez and Huntelaar?

Still think we need an out and out goalscorer as a priorityOriginally posted by lfc4ever View PostTevez and top quality left & right would do me.
Despite AF's claims Tevez isnt that player
We definitely need top quality wingers that can hurt the big teams because the ones currently on our books dont do it consistantly well enough against quality opposition
I would also say that ANY forward we buy has to be half decent in the air because of the sheer volume of crosses we attempt as things stand (this will be magnified with two quality wide players)Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. Huntelaar is very good in the air, that is a reason to why he would be a good signing. Most of the strikers that we are linked with isn't any good in the air.
Eto'o's only weakness is in the air for example.Just believe and you never know what will happen.

But that's what Kuyt was, until we turned him into a hard working link man, Kuyt & Tevez has the potential to be devastating upfront, as good as any other striker partnership there is amongst the other top teams, as the striker stats prove, it isn't an out & out goalscoring striker that wins you the league, but the other 4 just behind them.Originally posted by Lecter View PostStill think we need an out and out goalscorer as a priority

It doesn't help that we have been blessed with out & out home grown strikers, but they haven't won us the league since they arrived on the scene, hence, it may not after all be what we are missing.

Rafa will be judge on results, like all managers. so far despite a moderate record in the league, he still has both the fans and boards backing. this is due obviously to his brilliance in Europe but also a realisation that he simply hasn't had the funds to compete.
If he's given the funds and we don't progress, he will be sacked. If he succeeds, he join Paisley & Shanks as the greatest of all LFC managers. What will be interesting is if things don't go 100% to plan how long will hicks & Gillet give him.AKA Heighway No9
