It was heartbreaking mate who knows maybe Kenny would've stayed on if we had've won the league also that season.

1977 fa cup final. i was 8 at the time, old enough to understand the sport fully..we wore white & black & we lost i never stopped crying under me nans dinner table that day
the second one would be Arsenal 89 when Thomas scored that goal..probably the worst memory as a teenager LFC wise(on the pitch)

77 Cup final. I was only 10 and it was the 1st big game LFC had lost that I was old enough to be upset about. Even then it was horrible to lose to them, in the Cup final and to such a spawny goal. In them days that was the only live game on the box so it was a truely massive game, much bigger than the Cup final now.

Has to be the Arsenal game in 89 for me, the only Liverpol game where the result has brought me to tears!!!!

My first thought was '89 at Highbury. The '77 Cup Final was probably worse but it's partly obscured in my memory by what happened four days later.

The one with the biggest personal impact at the time was when Charlie George scored the winner in '71. My dad told me to stop bawling about it saying "it's only football". That just made me cry more.

            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

for me its the arsenal game and that cu nt mickey thomas.....first time a sports event made me cry and even to this day i still get ****ed off about it. It was surreal.
The wimbledon game was nasty but I kinda....just a little....liked the "romantic" side of such a small club winning the F.A cup.
Heysel game was horrid as well........

I too cried in '71, my earliest memory of LFC. '77 was bad, as was '88 and '96, but the worst ever for me was the Arsenal game. Even if we'd won and done the double, it would have been no consolation whatsoever and the Arse fans seem to have no comprehension or sympathy of this, vis. Nick Hornby. They made such a fuss over something that would have been a token victory to us. Add to this the fact that if we'd not played 7 games in 20 days, then McMahon would have had the energy to scythe down whoever it was and the hollow victory of beating a team who'd been though what we'd been through on goal differerence. Cheap victory, but they didn't care. Classless ****s. .. Still supported them when they were up against Manure for the titles in the 90's though.

Also without the harrowing times that followed and the fixture pile up we would have won the league that season and not Arsenal.

Also European cup semi final 85.

Without that there would have been no Heysel, no ban in Europe, the side we had for the next few years would have won many more "Big Ears" the club would have continued to develop at the highest standard, Souness would not have become manager and the mancs would never have ever got a sniff.

Without a moments hesitation I'd change the result against Arsenal when they stole the league from us at Anfield. I had nightmares for weeks and weeks afterwards. Couldn't believe we'd thrown it away.
Maybe it`s time for a poll!!!!!!

That's the most intelligent answer on here. Nobody could argue with you on that mate.

It's hard to give an answer to that question without mentioning those two and given the chance everyone would take those options.

However from another point of view I wish Heysel hadn't happened so Everton where in the European cup the year after. That way they wouldn't be able to blame us now for still being ****e!

I was in the Kop for the Arsenal game in 89....and purely from a football view it would have to be that one....Thomas running through......horrible!
