I don't think he's a midfielder either. He's not cute enough, not skilful enough to be an 'attacking midfielder'. Doesn't he say himself that he's a left-back and not a midfielder?

If you ask me he's a wing back - neither a genuine full-back or a midfielder. He's not good enough defensively for a full-back IMO. He's crap defending in one-on-one situations and pulls out of tackles. He's not comfortable in possession and I think Rafa would prefer ball-playing full-backs - hence the purchase of Aurelio and the pursuit of Alves.

Insua seemed very tidy on the ball in his appearances so far but next season is surely too soon for him.

absolutely no reason to get rid of him, at the very least he should be kept as squad player, some people may question his positional sense etc but what did we have the second best defense in the league this season? We'll only swap him for an even more attack minded left back in my oppinion, and the defense may suffer for that.

There is only ever one reason to replace a player and that is because you have someone better to replace them. This is not the case yet.

Wouldn't shed a tear if he left but certainly no disaster if he stayed.

Far more important priorities to deal with before we start tinkering with our back four IMO

I think there could be a little bit of truth in this.
Riie has been going on about how he wants to sign a new contract, but we have heard nothing back from Rafa about wanting to tie him up (non sexual sense).
Yet we have heard all about the club wanting to tie Finnan, Gerrard, Cara down. Yet Riise has been the most vocal about securing a new deal, I doubt he would look for too much either. I would think JAR feels a little insecure at the moment.

and rightly so, Although I do think Crouchy has every right to feel a little hard done by, sure he lacks a bit of conviction in the air for such a tall man, but we got a little extra supprise wwith how good he was on the deck, still though, Rafa brouht him in to be an aerial presnece he needs to something about his power in the air.
