There is a thread about him here, which seems knowledgable.

Volante de contencion is a defensive holding player, like Masch.
    Cheers.

So they think that he is more in the style of Pirlo or Alonso in his ideal position of a deep lying but creative player if I'm reading them right. Seems like they think a lot of him which is good.

"Furthermore, the Liverpool site did not even mentioned the deal. for you it is nothing, just a "prospect". For us he is everything. He is the best player of gremio, the captain of the young NT, a hero and an idol in RS and all Brasil, so what do you want?"

That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy

It does appear that we have signed a serious good player, based on those reports

I think he sums up the way many of us are feeling at the moment. Feel free to remove it to another section if necessary.

I think there are very valid reason for fearing the worst and people simply saying, "Believe" won't change a thing. I have spent too many years kidding myself every ****ing summer that we'll win the league with squads that lack either quality, spirit or both, at the requisite levels.

The bottom line is that - as things stand - we are a million ****ing miles away from being competitive with Chelsea and United, or has no-one else been watching? We play largely conservative and defensive football because (I hope it's 'because', anyway) we simply do not have the pace, talent or goal-scoring ability in the squad to do anything else.

What planet are people on thinking everything will be OK having watched United spend £50m on three players and now apparently thinking about bringing in Anelka, too (probably just to get them through the next season before they blow massive money on a world-beating goal-scorer)? In one fell swoop they've strengthened themselves defensively (when they were already pretty tight at the back) and brought in the new Giggs and Scholes. They are starting to look like a side that could out-Arsenal the Arsenal that went through an entire campaign undefeated. That squad is packed full of the three attributes we so clearly lack (as mentioned above) and I am very, very worried that we will never be able to catch them in the foreseeable future if we don't act decisively right now.

In my opinion, we need an entirely new attack, as well as a new centre half and left back. In the interests of realism, I've given up hoping for the defensive additions, but I honestly think we need to sign huge talents if we're going to have any chance of even getting into a title race, never mind winning the ****er.

I'm sure people will argue that United's new players might not settle, but that ignores two key points: firstly, they have great experience of developing young talent (homegrowns, Ronaldo), and have great players already there to ease the pressure on them to succeed immediately; and secondly, they're already miles ahead of us and we are trying to catch up with their side of last season, nevermind their new and improved version.

G&T really do have to step up and back Rafa right now. Hoping has got **** all to do with reality. They need to get these deals done so that players can go off on holiday ready to return and get themselves settled, both personally and professionally, at Liverpool. If they don't spend massive money, I believe they will have been deceitful to the fans (regardless of the lack of specifics - the implication was clear about what they'd do) and also negligent of their investment. We are simply not even vaguely competitive as things stand right now, and the value of their holding will not demonstrably increase unless they make it so.

Show us the ****ing money, boys.

I don't want us to have signed the biggest names, I was just saying that I thought the guy from TLW made some good points.

Regarding Malouda, I don't care if he has never played in England, I can still give an opinion. I have seen him play and don't rate him all that much to be honest.

Anyway get off back to work.

I have been posted a load of information for my pending PGCE in ICT course at uni, and I have already been given a pre-course assignment (to hand in when I start in September). Not happy at all.
Hah - thats what you get for not knowing what a database was in an IT interview

Anyway - as pointed out millons of times, the transfer window isnt even open yet, never mind closed - we have till 1st September to sign your 11 Galacticos for a whopping £500m for us to pander to.

(problem with that mate is the fact that the superstar players you want are all in superstar player type clubs and are hard to pick up)
              You walk down road.
