plus, although probably not material in size, they appear to have included all of our players, and only their bigger namesOriginally posted by Red_Polo View PostWhy 2003? Deliberate of course. It marked the end of a period where the Mancs spent absolutely massive amounts in the transfer market, Rooney being the one exception to that. Nani, Anderson, Hargreaves signings not included. Some of the figures that do come within its deliberately limited scope are questionable, and there are some omissions too. Djemba-Djemba for instance was sold for £1.3-1.5m, not £3.5m. All in all, it's total bollocks.

The stats are very skewed! As people have pointed out it shows people like Veron and Van horse as profits. Also if you look at Veron, Van horse and Becks they were sold for £50million, that has drastically helped their net spend drastically“Hicks could have purchased Dallas’ MLS franchise but decided not to. ‘In hindsight, I probably made the wrong decision,’ he said.“.

Interesting reading.
The only player Rafa has brought in and then sold at a loss is Morientes.
You could say we lost £0.25m on Josemi but you also say we only lost £0.25m on Josemi.
Recent spin has implied the new owners will scrutinise Rafa's transfer record but in reality they will scrutinise the club's transfer record.
And it won't take a genius to conclude that we have been running a much tighter ship under Benitez and the previous regime has a lot more to answer for than Rafa does. It's not good because it's rude. It's good because it looks like it's good because it's rude.

Add to that the fact that it includes each and every one of our reserves/youth team players, and doesn't count any of theirs, then this list is a very sorry shambles indeed.
I hope the thread-starter rams all this down his Manc mate's throat.

Why not just start from when Rafa actually arrived - the summer of 2004?
And anyway it's a totally pointless debate/comparison.
Demento already had a good team with top players, while Rafa inherited a ****e squad full of deadwood/deadbeats left by Houllier, yet with a few shrewd additions, plus the rejuvenation of lost causes like Igor and Vladi took us to a 5th European title. Could Sir scum have managed that with that side? Could he ****.
Of course Rafa's recent rant has to be backed up by him spending the money he does have avalible this summer well, otherwise he'll look a bit silly.I hate Polanski

Did we lose money on Josemi though? We essentially swapped him for Kromkamp. So we bought Josemi for more than we sold Kromkamp for? Doesn't seem right if true. Jan might've been a bit of a limp dick but at least he could play a bit.I hate Polanski
