They are re-hashing Bascombe's story but you can't help but feel that there is someting wrong. G&H are going to have to say something in the next couple of days.

G&H are going to have to DO something in the next couple of days. They've done enough talking already.

      Time for actions not words.

I agree with everyone that this is just a rehash of the Echo news report for the past few weeks
The papers have to fill themselves - so they`ve got this story and the Henry/Wenger story at Arsenal

I`m still trying to be hopefully that all are targets are in Spain, and that we are waiting for the league/cup competiton to finish
          We need better attacking players!

          Torres aint enough

Yeah, hopefully we will sign someone this week (how often do I say that) and they something. I believe the club will say something as they must know there is a lot of unease amongst the fans. I can not believe that G&H will not do as promised as they would end up scared of coming to Anfield again - they would have to sell.

Just in case my last comments are misunderstood I think they will deliver what has been promised, this is just the papers having fun and copying Bascombe.

Agreed. No point wooing the fans and then not following through. If they had no intention of keeping these promises they would have been better off remaining silent and keeping a low profile like the Glazers and leaving the charm offensive to Parry. I mean we'd be suspicious of them but there's no way we'd have rioted like the Mancs did so it's not like they needed to come out and say what they have. Conning us would reflect much worse on them than saying nothing.

                  Rafa gives up

......In the papers tomorrow, that he has given up on getting big money from the two Yanks and that he has falling out with them as well.

It just wont go away will it.

I cant believe that Moores sold the club for the better so we could compete with the likes of Manue and Cheski and he ends up selling to buyers who aint got no money...??? Come on surely not.....if that was the case then he wouldnt of sold it at all.

Wasn't that what was on here earlier. I think that we should all calm down and see what happens in a few weeks. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that we had less money than the papers and some fans (especially those who bought the whole player specific budget thing) originally thought. We will however still have a decent amount to spend as even likely player sales + CL winnings is a substantial amount.

I would like to point out that a large part of the sale was to get the money for the stadium, which in the long run is a really huge thing.

Fair enough but we need a team that will do the new stadium, we defo need at leats 2 or 3 world class players arriving this summer.
Easier said than done but i hope the board do all they can in bringing a few high profile players to the club.

I think the papers are putting a twist on things, as soon as the first signing happens, all will be forgotten, i can see malouda and maybe a right winger (mancini) signing in the next couple of weeks. Which aint too bad. Espicially with the new and improved stadium plans being submitted to the council.

Maybe we wont sign an Eto or even a tevez but i think we may make a couple of shock signings.

IF things were soo bad, i dont think rafa would be hanging around, or maybe he is just waiting for real madrid job now?

Most clubs have one person who is in control though, we have two people on equal footing. That said I'm not really concerned about it, I think they know each other well enough from doing business together in the past for it to be an issue, certainly in the immediate future anyway.

As for the transfer budget etc, I estimated around £40m would be made available and I stick by that for now at least. There are so many conflicting reports and comments it's impossible to say for sure, we'll just have to be patient and see.

RAFA FUMES AS TARGETS GO BEGGING
                              EXCLUSIVE
                              By Simon Mullock 10/06/2007

RAFA BENITEZ'S relationship with Liverpool's new owners has again become strained by their failure to land any of his transfer targets.

The Kop boss returned from a short family holiday on Thursday angered by the fact that George Gillett and Tom Hicks still haven't swapped promises for hard cash.

Benitez has not been pacified by Liverpool's success in securing Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Xabi Alonso and Pepe Reina to new long-term contracts, with Momo Sissoko and Steve Finnan also expected to commit themselves to the club this week.

The Spaniard wanted to see new blood on Merseyside - and now fears his warning to Gillett and Hicks that they risk losing the players he wants to bring in because of their inaction is beginning to come true.

Inter Milan are now in pole position to land Samuel Eto'o if he decides to quit Barcelona in the summer, with the Catalans' £40m price-tag out of Liverpool's league.

The suggestion that Benitez would use Barca target Alonso as bait has now been blown out of the water by the midfielder's new contract agreement.

Lyon's £8m-rated Florent Malouda now looks certain to snub Anfield advances and opt for a move to Chelsea. Seville's Daniel Alves, Real Zaragoza defender Gabriel Milito, Valencia's David Silva and West Ham's Carlos Tevez also feature prominently on Benitez's wish-list - the question is whether he will land any of them.

Three weeks after launching a stinging attack on his Anfield paymasters in the aftermath of the Champions League Final defeat by AC Milan for not getting their act into gear, Benitez is facing competition on all fronts in the transfer market.

Brazilian international Alves - a long-term Liverpool target - is now being courted by Real Madrid, while the Spanish giants have also joined Juventus in the race for Argentine hardman Milito.

Silva, rated at £12m by Benitez's former club Valencia, is being courted by Tottenham and Chelsea and has hinted that a move to London would suit him.

Tevez remains an option - but not at the £25m being quoted.

Benitez's beef has nothing to do with the amount of money he will be allowed to spend and revolves purely around his frustration that Liverpool's American owners do not seem to have grasped the intricacies of football's market despite his repeated warnings.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

what a load of bull. La Liga still has another week to run and nothing is going to happen before then especially with Barca still in with a chance.
