A lot of people are expressing their frustration at his possible departure - perhaps he wants to go? I wouldn't begrudge him a return home.

I'd love Luis to stay, I think the little man is great.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Also add his "fox in the box" qualities. He is great at sniffing opportuinites and is always on the move. Never hides.

Inconsistent and a horrible waster of possiesion, but that is what you get with players who intend to create all the time.

Certainly the fact that he's got two years left on his deal and we've heard nothing about contract negotiations etc seems to be quite indicative.

I've read a few comments on here of people saying they;d be happy to see the back of him, and be happy to have Beneyoun as his replacement. Personally I dont understand that at all. Luis offers us something currently no other player does. He is the only player we have who can play in the hole behind the striker (Gerrard looked lost in that role in Athens), he also knows how to gamble and get in the right positions in the box and get on the end of crosses and loose balls (in the way Kuyt can't) and he is probably the most clinical finisher we have.

Yes he tries the elaborate flicks and is frustrating when he loses the ball, but he scores goals and goals win games, as Luis has done for us on many a big occasion. We can't afford to let him go IMO. No disrespect to Benayoun, he'd be a good squad player and is proven in the Prem, but if he replaces Luis then we're a poorer team and squad IMO.

So this is a thread to discuss Luis, whether he's worth keeping or not, but mainly it's to appreciate all he's done for us, say thanks and wish him all the best for the future, whether that be at Anfield or elsewhere.

              King Luis

Love the little fella, I accepted that he will annoy all of us with the flicks and tricks, but would have him in our side every week. He has the vision and the ability to make turn games like no one else has.

Garcia to stay. He has the spirit and the passion a Liverpool player should have. Very sad to hear he might be on his way.

I don't think he'll leave no way - Luis is to important to us.

How can we even think of selling little luis.

the man drove me insane at times but he is definitly good for a goal. really started to appreciate him when he got injured, he offers something different and can provide cover across the midfield and upfront.

Nah I'm not having that - He'll stay and we wont get Torres I am 100% confident on that.

Garcia is instinctive and aware, has great vision, a superb long range shot and, as Shaggy mentioned, he's superb in the air. He'll leave a big gap in our squad if he leaves (one that Benayoun cannot fill IMO).

I hope he sticks around for a few years yet, but the fact that a new contract hasn't been mentioned in the media, suggests to me that Rafa thinks he is dispensible.

In fairness, why would an extension of contract be offered to a player with two years left on his existing one and is coming back from a severe injury that hasn’t been tested yet? I don’t read a lot into him not being offered an extension. It’s understandable. It might be a nice gesture to show faith in him and all that, but the truth is, nobody knows how he will cope with a return after so long out. He might not be the same player. Also, for that matter, why would Athletico want a player who hasn’t kicked a ball since January without actually seeing him prove that he has, indeed, recovered first? They’re losing their best player. Why would they want an untested post-injury 29 year old as a way of “lessening the blow”?

Also, has Garcia ever came straight out and said “I am homesick”? I have never seen such a comment from him.
