I think Rashid is being a bit harshly judged on this.
Perhaps "depresses me" is the wrong phrase but I do feel envious about the attacking football some teams can play particularly the SCUM last season.
I think it is largely to do with personel. Rafa supposedly models his managerial style on Arrigo Sachi's Milan team which we all know was an exciting successful team, but they had the advantage of several World beaters in their team.
It also takes time to develop the team, it's not just a case of getting the right men in. When we have a settled squad with a few more world class attacking players then we will play more attacking football. Another factor is confidence which we will develop when we have won the league, so it may take a season of efficient, less flamboyant football to win number 19, then the players can express themselves more.

I think our style of play is dictated somewhat by the calibre of player we have. With more technical players we will improve.

BTW it's Saturday Rashid you should be in a more optimistic mood :-)

Would be nice if we could play like the Mancs, especially when we capitulate in Europe regularly.......

We do attack, we just haven't had the personnel up front to end the moves, we haven't had the players in the wings to take on a player and do some creative work from there so we won't be doing samba style football until we do.

Problem is, samba football is pretty to watch but rarely effective any more. Look at Arsenal. (Mancs are the exception to the rule this year purely because they fluked the way through the season)
        You walk down road.

Right side, ok. Left side ok. Through middle. Squish, just like grape.

        Same with Karate.

Either you karate do yes, or karate do no. Karate do think so, squish. just like grape.

I'd love for Rafa to sort out the way we play with the signings we make this summer, you will never win the PL unless you attack in every game.
          Oh well, that's a shame.
          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

Well it related, the players can only go out and perform how their ability lets them, we aren't going to see Sissoko bomb forward tear the arse out of three defenders and plant one in the top corner are we. Rafa's signed his hard working players who will form the spine, now he can sign the flair players that he thinks we need.

I think he's learnt pretty well, he's been better than 17 other managers in the league for the last 2 seasons, if you want to look at it in really simple terms. I think he's learned plenty, he's always altering his systems depending on the opponents, it's just we haven't had the personell to score the goals.

                Good morning Rashid

Interesting signing news this morning...Gabriel Heinze.

Is it just me or is he exactly not what we need?

I agree that we don't play disimilarly to the Chavs. As has been mentioned we have a spine of a team as good as anyone, we just lack their £20m+ players & therefore their incision. Hopefully players like Torres wil remedy that.

I actually think we player some really nice, clever footy in places in the 05-06season- great passing & movement altho admittedly not the dribbling a lot of us crave.

What does frustrate me tho is the lack of men we commit forward on the break. There's often so little options in the box, kuyt or whoever is triple-marked & there's no-one breaking from midfield. Better quality/ more mobile attackers will allevaite this somewhat but I also agree with Rash to some extent that we need to exhibit more progressive tactics in the league.
                  3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Sorry, I think most would agree you are incredibly wrong here. Samba football is way over the top, the way to win the league is to go at the opposition, attack as a team and defend as a team. Make the other team worry about you, play your own game and have confidence in it. This is one thing I worry about with Rafa. He is very good at setting the team up to go out and stop the opposition, as is proven by his record in Europe. Where I think he struggles is when the opposition sets up to stop us playing. United and Chelsea over the past few years have generally been able to overcome this. Under Rafa we haven't.

Another thing, if we can have Kewell and Aurelio fit, we've got potentially a very creative left side already, just unfortunately we haven't had the luck with the injuries

If we can match the right hand side, and stick torres up front with Kuyt or Crouch, with Stevie in the middle, then I doun't think we'll be seeing a lot of boring football next season

Injuries aside Im more inclined to think put Stevie on the right a bit more this year, left isnt really a problem with harry, j.a.r, aurelio, the new kid, possibly heinze?
Right side is weak as ****, pennant is only a sub at best in my opinion and unless we sign mancini/swp etc etc then we are defo better off with stevie on the right. Masch, alonso, lucas, momo will have the center sewn up for years.
So, in conclusion, we need a right back (either as cover or to make finnan cover), right winger and a creative dude ala garcia (tevez hopefully), then id be more than sure its a premiership winning team in the making.
                        Heres hoping.
