Sorry, I think most would agree you are incredibly wrong here. Samba football is way over the top, the way to win the league is to go at the opposition, attack as a team and defend as a team. Make the other team worry about you, play your own game and have confidence in it. This is one thing I worry about with Rafa. He is very good at setting the team up to go out and stop the opposition, as is proven by his record in Europe. Where I think he struggles is when the opposition sets up to stop us playing. United and Chelsea over the past few years have generally been able to overcome this. Under Rafa we haven't.

firstly just because its what your thinking doesnt mean its what everyone here is thinking

also did the scum attack as a team this year?
    no they didnt.
they had 3 or 4 players at most attacking at any one time.
giggs, ronaldo, rooney and maybe scholes. the rest of the team stayed in position.

do you remember playing football in school ... the quick game before class started??
you would have 30 lads all running at the goal, then 30 lads all running back again to defend !!!
    thats school boy football.
    thats not real football

the samba football isnt formless ... when cafu bombs forward someone takes his place, usually the centre back moves closer to his position

even arsenal in the unbeaten season ... one of the most attacking teams ever in the premiership ... it was usually just pires, henry, freddie and berkamp

so please dont claim to talk for me and if you must please dont talk ****e
Im only on here for silly season

the rest of the time im too stressed

I wish we played football like that, lets hope this new Dutch guy gets our young players like that.

I'd love for Rafa to sort out the way we play with the signings we make this summer, you will never win the PL unless you attack in every game.

Perhaps "depresses me" is the wrong phrase but I do feel envious about the attacking football some teams can play particularly the SCUM last season.
I think it is largely to do with personel. Rafa supposedly models his managerial style on Arrigo Sachi's Milan team which we all know was an exciting successful team, but they had the advantage of several World beaters in their team.
It also takes time to develop the team, it's not just a case of getting the right men in. When we have a settled squad with a few more world class attacking players then we will play more attacking football. Another factor is confidence which we will develop when we have won the league, so it may take a season of efficient, less flamboyant football to win number 19, then the players can express themselves more.
Man U selectively play attacking football. They're number one at rolling over Watford, Bolton etc, but as soon as they play a good team, particularly away, they play a very negative, defensive formation: one up front, Fatboy withdrawn on the left, get everyone behind the ball and try to pinch a breakaway goal. They've played like this at Anfield for the past few years. They usually get found out in the CL playing like this (away to Milan last season for example) but they've ridden their luck in the Prem - last season's Anfield game, when they were terrible but stole it in injury time, is the perfect example. Let's not perpetuate the media myth of their always playing attacking football please; they simply do not.

most man u fans i have spoken to will tell you that their best players this season were ronaldo, vidic and evra

and when arsenal went unbeaten keown and campbell were magnificent

strikers win you games but defenders win you titles

i was going to agree but then i realised.................

we've had an excellent defence over the last cpl of years - probably the best in the league. However, we've been nowhere near the title. The title winners usually have top class forwards as well - it's the 1-0 wins away that win the league.

            It was her birthday.
Would I have got married during the football season ?
            Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.'

I think what he meant a combination of both, dependingon how you view footy, it's probably more possible to win the league with a tight defense and maybe not too hot strikers, rather that hot strikers and **** defenders, we certainly might of last year if the league hadn't beeen distorted

it's obvious rashid is just a fan who sees us winning the league as option two and us winning the league playing a thrilling style of football is the ultimate.

i don't really get why there seems to be so much support for this functional ultra scientific approach to footie like it's the sort of football we've all loved all our lives. for example, who hasn't wanted to see brazil win world cups?
