sheva has flopped in the premiership BIG time, Torres has scored on the international scene has always scored for his club.....and hasnt been given his chance. he has the potential so he would be given the chance over a flopOriginally posted by Reds08 View PostHAHA. Alrite, what has Torres done to warrant a place over Sheva? Sheva has scored buckets in the champions league, an immense ammount of goals for kiev and milan, and remains a world class player. Torres, erm, if i'm not mistaken, has not shown any sign of reaching such levels._____________________________________

and he has never scored in the champs leage either :whatever:Originally posted by Milan_Milan View PostHe is however a season ahead in the adaptation process, he's had more success than Torres so far in the premier league. Just playing devils advocate.
he has failed to adapt, IF torres adapts he could be awesome hence why would u keep a guaranteed flop, instead of a possible flop?????_____________________________________

Well when we are 10 points behind the mancs and chelsea after 8 games he is going to have to. Torres initially wont like it here, getting used to not plying for atletico will be hard enough, add in a new climate, genuine pressure to perform and the price tag, he is not going to find it easy.Originally posted by red g View Postright so he will give crouch 26 games tos core but dump torres after 8? thats right rafa is mr kneejerk!!

For that to make any difference you've got to assume Torres will adapt at the same abysmal rate though. It's not that I'm saying Sheva's definitely not going to come good for Chelsea, nor that Torres is a better player. I just think it's stupid to argue with such certainty one way or another between the two of them. Sheva may or may not come good having seriously struggled to adapt, and Torres is an unknown quantity in this league.Originally posted by Milan_Milan View PostHe is however a season ahead in the adaptation process, he's had more success than Torres so far in the premier league. sheva is an interesting one. he has looked out of his depth in england but has on occasion shown his quality.
the team not being built around him, the manager not particularly wanting him, struggling with injuries, the wrong side of 30 to come to england (morientes anyone?) AND the fact that whichever way you look at it, chelsea is a step down from milan (no matter how much money you get) are all factors in this.
on the other hand, FT is young, fit, ambitious, stepping up in terms of club and teammates and about to become the premierships top scorer in the hungriest team in the league

Theres nothing to say Shevchenko won't adapt this season. The number of players that have taken a season to get used to the PL is substantial. But as mentioned by Red_Polo, it would be difficult if not impossible to choose between them at this stage due to this sort of issue, therefore we can't say that he would get into chelseas team ahead of shevchenko, which was the original point.Originally posted by red g View Postand he has never scored in the champs leage either :whatever:

Yep. Likewise, we can't cite Sheva as a player he wouldn't get into their team ahead of.Originally posted by Milan_Milan View PostTheres nothing to say Shevchenko won't adapt this season. This thread is pointless. Nobody can possibly answer those questions until the season starts. If we start well we'll be happy, if we dont and the new signings dont gel, we'll be unhappy and our faith in rafa may (note i said may) be tested. Until then its moot. What we can be happy about is that we appear to have competed well in the transfer market this summer and we live in hope that it translates to improving our league form.Fernando Torres
I dont just love him, I'm IN love with him
