Univ, have you seen Britains public services? They have become very expensive due to privatisation, they just mean that some very rich people got richer and our services got ****ter and the policies led to wankstain stockbrokers making lots of money and then destroying the economy. Thatcher can **** off and die and I'll gladly just piss on her grave.

and she started creating a two-tier society where the poor get ****e education/health service and are trapped in ghettoes, while the rich live in luxury and end up needing security teams to keep the poor underclass away from them. Bit like the US.Originally posted by MattsharkUniv, have you seen Britains public services? Well the answer to my own question is that a Liverpool fan believing in the likes of Thatcher is a lot worse than people chanting "who are you" or "easy" (easily outbalanced as they are by superior singing etc). I'm from a Liverpool family myself, we were living in Wigan by the time of Thatcher and she totally ****ed us up too. We too will be throwing a party the day she dies - which could be funny as I now live in ultra-tory Dorset with a Dorset girl.Originally posted by rodoscully anyone of us from liverpool will know what that despicable bitch did to this city of ours and trying to educate someone with little or no symapthy for it is a waste of time and i dont know why we are all getting sucked in to the debate

I don't think UniofChicago should be attacked for his beliefs in Economoc principle - the things with these kind of policies is that you have to detach any kind of specific social conscience to the exercise.
Obviously, you try telling that to somebody negatively effected by said policy - it wont wash, and nor should it.
In my honest opinion, Capitalism is the root of most of the evil on our green planet - and probably the driver to kill the human race. However, the only other current theory/model that we can work to is Communism (which SHOULD be the solution, if humans weren't human (i.e. the classic basis of Economics - Finite resources yet infinite wants.) but seeing as we are human, and we are incapable as a race not to take more than our fair share, Communism falls over, fails and generally causes a right old pickle for the state.
So, to sum up, we are all ****ed!

The bottom line is that anyone who advocates free trade fails to take into consideration 'the money trick' which, although simplistic, highlights how money is essentially a device that is used for disproportionate accumulation of wealth.
**** free trade, we want fair trade. An analogy can be made between social and economic theories here:
Fascism (stringent social control by state) : Communism (stringent economic control by state)
Anarchy (no social control by state) : Free Trade (no economic control by state).
What this all boils down to is how we see government and society. Most people will readily accept that anarchy is not a favourable situation as it would just allow those with brute force at their disposal to prosper, leaving all others at their behest. Thus government is intended to regulate society in the best interests of the people.
By the same token, free trade is no situation to be in because it simply allows those of high economic standing to prosper, with those of lower economic standing left at their behest. Government must impose regulation to prevent this. Both social and economic controls must be implemented so that the selfish desires of the individual are aligned with what is best for society as a whole.Last edited by Red_Polo; 28-08-06, 02:31 PM.Like blood on iron
