Not better off than last year?
On what are you (anyone) basing these baseless claims?
For starters our players haven't just come back from the world cup.
Secondly, we have a stronger midfield with the additions of Mascherano, Babel, Benayoun, Lucas and Leto as replacements for Gonzalez, Zenden, and Garcia.
Thirdly we have Harry Kewell currently not injured.
Fourthly, we have one of the best young strikers in Europe (torres) as a replacement for Bellamy.
Finally: We have THE CROW
Add to that the fact that we have money to spend if we need to I think we are possibly slightly better off than last season.
But some people still arent happy unless they have a good ole' cry about the team are they mate. Actually, they arnt happy even after they have their cry because something else upsets them like a big 300m stadium being anounced to the world. Also, it is gonna be THE best stadium in the world, but wait.......I can almost hear the crybabys........'Its not the best, uniteds is, chelseas is....cry cry cry......blah blah blah......'
Its getting very boring and ****ing tedious to hear the same whinging tarts whinging about the same old whinging ****e.
Oh, hold on.....I can hear more.......
"Damn Yanks.
Sack the board.
Sack Parry.
Lets Burn Gerrards shirt."

I think 12-15 first season and more from Kuyt this season too.Originally posted by Venton View PostBit much to expect from his first season in English football I think. He's a good player but he will be finding his feet in the first year.

Well, people are whinging and as far as i can see there is no real discussion. More about people listing 'Worries'Originally posted by DJS View PostI'm not sure that anyone's really whinging...are they?
Someone asked about what worries people have and so people have been discussing it.
Yeah, my main worry for the new season = Not enough LFC games on sky. There you go. Best i can come up with and about as useless moaning about it than some of the other 'worrys' but i wanted to be a team player.
Sick and tired of people moaning. FFS, people moaned 3 weeks ago about us having NO money then we spent 42m in 2 weeks. People moaned about the 'Yanks are all talk talk talk' until they signed the spine of the team on extended deals, bought 42m worth of players in and unveiled a300m worth of stadium.
Not bad really imo.

People will always want more though, it's human nature. It's a bit like money, if you earn £30k you want £35k, if you earn £35k you want £40k...so on and so forth...i wouldnt be too worried about it, we all yearn for perfection.Originally posted by murder_inc View PostWell, people are whinging and as far as i can see there is no real discussion. I can't believe no-one is seriously worried about the prospect of Carra getting injured.
If we lose Gerrard, Alonso or another midfielder and to a certain extent a striker we should cope alright but Carragher not being in defence would be a massive, massive hinderence to us.
He's the main organiser in defence/team, in general.
He's mighty important to our attempts at doing well this coming season."Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Im not the thief who grabs your purse. Im not the guy who jacks your car. Im not down with the people who steal and hurt others. Im just a brother who fight back."

We won't win the title this year, period. I agree that Torres will need time to get acclimated, as will Babel. We should definitely have a better points total, though, and I expect the likes of Gerrard and Alonso to rebound from their subpar seasons. I'll be happy if we finish within 10 points of the top.
I agree with Marky about the possibility of Carra getting injured. I've said it before, and I hate to sound like a broken record, but a serious injury to Carra or Agger may force Paletta into an important role in the first team, and I just don't think he's up to snuff. Look at Chelsea last year...one can argue that they lost the title when their injury problems forced them to rely on Boulahrouz in defense. Instead of chasing Heinze, I'd rather see us pick up a CB.

I agree DS but also think that cover is weak at CB (which makes the move for Heinze a sensible one). I think we'll mount a serious challenge but will possibly fall just short unless Rafa has another couple of dips into the marketOriginally posted by desertscouser View PostWe definitely have a far better squad and first 11 than we did last season but in my opinion we are still a quality left back and right winger short of mounting a serious title challenge.

Yep, too true. Paletta will never make it as a long term first teamer at Liverpool (although my opinion is based on two pre-seasons and a hadful of CC games).Originally posted by willa1975 View PostI've said it before, and I hate to sound like a broken record, but a serious injury to Carra or Agger may force Paletta into an important role in the first team, and I just don't think he's up to snuff.

I for one am not worried. Agger can and will be able to fill his boots, and it would be just this sort of thing that would take him from young, thunderfoot defender to team leader. He has already shown he is afraid of no one, puts Drogba, the leagues leading scorer, in his back pocket, and will mix it up in any tackle with anyone. Throw Sami in with him against tough sides, and you now have yourself an experienced middle defence. Put one of the new kids in with him against the easier teams and they could handle it easily.
JC is one of my all time top LFC players, but we now have enough cover to be able to handle an injury to our back line.
I also feel that we have massively bolstered (I love that word) our attack so much that our defence isn't gonig to have to work as hard as it has over recent years.
I can't remember the last time I was this excited for the start of the season.
Liverpool 3-0 Aston Villa
Torres, Crouch and AggerFriendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings.
