Thanjk you.

I think Mascherano, Torres and Babel will make the big difference for us. We do however need another defender to cover centre-half/left-back - Heinze would be perfect and probably first choice LB.
The only thing that would concern me is too much rotation, especially up front. It's the one area where players need to develop an understanding with each other. Ok, so defences need that too, but that doesn't seem to change much week-by-week.
I just feel that where you get too many changes up front, that almost forces a more cautious approach, which is where we fall down in the away games.
Hope it changes this season, but I can't see Rafa keeping 4 strikers of the quality we have all happy and in top form for when they're needed.
Apart from that, though, I'm really looking forward to the new season more than I have in a long time.
Life is NOT a journey to the grave with the goal of arriving safely in a prettily preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways in a shower of gravel and party shards, thoroughly used, utterly exhausted, and loudly proclaiming: "F*** ME, that was BRILLIANT!"
A 20 goal striker alone wont win anyone the league, but it'd bloody help. In games where you dont look like winning, or breaking someone down, that type of striker pops up with a winner and it's worth a nice batch of points over 38 league games.
I obviously feel a 20 goal a season striker would help, but I think we need a Rooney sort of player who's capable of winning matches on his own. Even if all the teams playing badly and the opposition have 10 men ebhind the ball, he can still create something out of nothing. I hope and believe Torres is this man.
We need more creativity instead of a poacher IMO.
Javier Mascherano: 'I want to be settled and kill myself on the pitch so the team wins lots of games'
I think the biggest concern is whether Babel and Benayoun will give us that leap forward in quality we need in our wide play. It is of course a concern rather than a criticism. In the main I'm just looking forward to seeing how things unfold

I echo that.
I have some doubts, since they aren't proper wingers, but I am prepared to sit on the fence for a while.

"I don't want to appear pessimistic"........well thats a funny way of not doing so!!
Christ mate, it's pre season, and if any footy fan is pessemistic now the I would suggest that this isnt the game for them. This is the time to dream and hope, like every fan of evry club in the country, even bluenoses (its just that thiers dont last very long!!!).

I usually started to dream about the Premiership title in mid October ... Before that, I always "knew" that we were going to win it that season!
