Said this in another thread yesterday, but seriously can't believe how lucky we are basically having a train line sitting there just waiting for us to pull it out of retirement

Bit of a get out of jail free card, certainly. Possibly the difference between the new owners pushing ahead on the park and moving us elsewhere.

Mmm not sure. I think it would have to have more regular service to make it viable. We have a similar situation between Limerick and Shannon airport. Old trainline exists and even though 1000's get off flights everyday, Ryanair say it would not be viable, though they're probably wanting someone else to stump up the cash.

Indeed. And by the sounds of things that station will be the difference between a 60,000 stadium and a 76,000 stadium.

Ideally we'd like the stadium to be at top capacity from the moment it opens in 2010. That being the case, will the work on the train line/new station not need to begin straight away in order to be co-ordinate completion with that of the new stadium?

If so, then hopefully we don't hesitate like we have tended to in the past, and instead be decisive and show to the council straight away we have plans to upgrade the transport infrastructure around the stadium and we have the funds and are willing to contribute to the costs of those works.

**** it then, let's buy some LFC trains as well then and run it ourselves. we could call it The anfield Express.

Think they are looking to integrate the line into the merseyrail network.
A very important commuter link to the city for a lot of people on that ring
