    Quite similar imo.
Heskey, the more expensive one, had ample time to prove himself, one has played for one season.

My problem is that I think Heskey had the talent to be one of the best players in the country, unfortunately he was not mentally strong enough or confident enough in his own ability to fulfil his potential. I think Kuyt has traits in common with Heskey but is a much more intelligent and confident player.

To be honest considering his role in the team last year Kuyt scored a good number of goals and did enough to show that he could be a very valuable link player and a danger in the box. He has flaws to his game but I really think he has a lot to offer and that he will show more this season with an intelligent pacy partner in Torres.

I remain unconvinced that our strikers were that wasteful last year. We generated a lot less clear cut chances than the likes of United, yet our strikers ended up with a similar goal tally to theres. There were only two players who IMO were significantly more lethal than ours last year - Drogba and McCarthy.

I think a fair comparison for Kuyts first season is Drogba's first season at Chelsea, where he played his role well and did a very good job but was heavily criticised. He then went on to improve and now everyone aknowledges his contribution to Chelsea.

              Torres will play
The next player will depend on who we are playing, and what physical condition they are in.

Vorinin and Torres!!!. Both look class, crouch and Kuyt, lets face it are not good enough for a team looking to win the league, can u see fergie wenger and mourinho looking at those two and think "I wish I had signed them" i don't thing so, squad players both of them

really does depend on who we are playing, eg a small club like the blue****e who will defend for 90 mins i would like to see us attack them more

for me i would love to see a 3-5-2 formation and attack teams, i would honestly rather win 4-2 playing attacking entertaining football than 1-0 in the league anyways...

europe is different and 1-0 wil do me rightly.. plus rafa knows his **** there so leave him at it

for me torres can do a pretty similar job to crouch except....

1... torres is more than likely better in the air cos for a man of 6'7 crouch really is bad and can never seem to get any power or direction into a header
2... torres is quicker and will attack defences whereas crouch would not run past my granny
3... torres can see that killler pass whereas crouch more often than not gets it and lays it off behid him (not bad but defensive imo)

so for me torres gets the nod above crouch every time with kuyt and the crow pushing for the second spot and crouch spending most of his time on the bench
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

What exactly has Kuyt done to merit a place ahead of our most prolific forward last season...Peter Crouch?
                      I just don't get it.

Not easy when he was benched most games or taken off early in the games he did start in the league.

his work rate is better...... my point was really saying that i belive crouch and torres are competing for the first choice with torres edging it ???

nothing against crouch but imo i cant see him and torres starting together. i really dont care who plays as long as we win...

torres is my personal choice for no. 1 striker but as we know rafa likes to change it about all the time anyways............. the great thing about these forums is everyone can xpress their opinion so i posted mine.... some will agree with me some will not and thats fair enough

I think that Crouch was played well last year and expect him to play a similar amount this season. Some games he is very well suited too but he slows up play much more than Kuyt.

I also think people calling for Crouch instead of Kuyt would do well to compare their first seasons for us. Kuyt did very well for a player coming to a harder league last year, and played much deeper than he is used to.

Regarding Crouch bet Wenger was when the arse last played us, or Fergie in the FA cup 5th round 2006 or Jose in the 2006 charity sheild
Also Kuyt scoring record in the league was just as good as the much wanked over Berbatov.
